  Badge 112 is the story of a restless boy orphaned in high school, and his unlikely passage from juvenile delinquent to decorated police officer. A 29-year-old rookie, Stipe left his mark, combining instinct, orientation and superb fitness to catch criminals and save lives. He confronts the memory of his own mother’s death by handling the suicides of several more victims, many to gunfire. His negotiation skills spare the lives of many more. 
  While on the force, Stipe embarked on a series of high-profile arrests, high-speed pursuits, foot chases, bank robberies, hostage situations, homicides, life and death struggles and harrowing rescues. In 1994, a serial killer investigation exposed the strained racial tensions between the police and the public they serve. Stipe and the killer confront one another in court.

  Edward Frederic Benson was born in Berkshire, England on 24th July 1867. 
  Educated at Marlborough and Kings College Cambridge he began his career as a writer at an early age and was published whilst still studying. 
  Benson was also a gifted athlete and represented his country at figure skating. 
  His career was prodigious and widely acknowledged.  Perhaps he is best known for his collection of novels about ‘Mapp & Lucia’ which have proved very popular throughout the decades.   
  Benson was also well regarded as a writer of ghost stories—‘spook stories’ in the then vernacular—as well as biographies.  His ghost and supernatural fiction covered a range of subjects but all were exceptionally well-written, drenched in atmosphere, riven with chills and have stood the test of popularity over the decades as testament to his literary talents.  
  Benson was never married and practised his homosexuality discreetly. 
  E F Benson died on 29th February 1940 at University College Hospital, London of throat cancer.  He was 72.

  Kerri ní Dochartaigh was born in Derry, on the border of the North and South of Ireland, at the very height of the Troubles. She was brought up on a council estate on the wrong side of town—although for her family, and many others, there was no right side. One parent was Catholic, the other was Protestant. In the space of one year, they were forced out of two homes. When she was eleven, a homemade bomb was thrown through her bedroom window.   James Cook - His First Voyage...

  Captain James Cook FRS was a British explorer, navigator, cartographer, and captain in the Royal Navy who is most well-known for his 3 explorations to the Pacific Ocean, especially to Australia, between 1768 and 1779. Prior to finishing 3 trips to the Pacific, he drew precise maps of Newfoundland and made the first documented European encounter with the eastern coast of Australia and the Hawaiian Islands, and the first noted circumnavigation of New Zealand. 
  As a youngster, Cook signed up with the British merchant fleet before signing up with the Royal Navy in the year 1755. Throughout the siege of Quebec, he saw fight in the 7 Years' War and later on surveyed and recorded much of the Saint Lawrence River's entryway, bringing him to the notification of the Admiralty and the Royal Society. That honor took place at a rather critical point in his profession and in the direction of British abroad expedition, resulting in his appointment as leader of HMS Endeavor for the first of 3 Pacific explorations in the year 1766.  
  Cook traveled countless kilometers over mainly untouched parts of the world on these journeys. He checked out spots in the Pacific Ocean from New Zealand to Hawaii in greater detail and on a scale never ever before seen by Western explorers. For the first time, he surveyed and recognized things, and recording isles and shorelines on European maps. He displayed seamanship, remarkable surveying and cartography abilities, physical bravery, and the capability to lead men to different area all over the world.
