  Noted internationally known Self-help advocate and teacher of devotional yoga Prana Govinda Das was born in Liverpool, England in 1968 admittedly a pretty good year for all things bright and beautiful.   For example, “emotional hijacking” is a phenomenon in which the amygdala, a part of the brain associated with emotions, takes control and triggers impulsive responses before the neocortex, the brain's rational part, can fully process the information. While useful in emergencies, this mechanism can lead to hasty decisions in modern contexts.  
  Goleman also discusses the importance of emotional intelligence in preventing antisocial and criminal behaviors. According to the author, many problematic behaviors, such as aggression and delinquency, are linked to low emotional intelligence. 
  People who lack emotional skills often struggle to manage their impulses and empathize with others, which can lead to destructive behaviors.
