Synopsis

A gripping drama of sex, power and passion from the Spanish Golden Age.
A peasant wedding. Just as Peribanez and Casilda become man and wife, the Commander of the region is carried dying to their home. His waking sight of Casilda condemns him to a desparate love. Joy turns to despair and then to revolt in this gripping rediscovery of Lope de Vega's 17th-century classic.

The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam Translated by Edward FitzGerald Narrated by Denis Daly Omar Khayyam (1048 - 1131) was a true polymath.  A distinguished mathematician,  astronomer and philosopher,  he is best known today for his Rubaiyat, a collection of rubai, or rhyming quatrains,  of which he is estimated to have composed at least 500.  Together with the work of Hafiz and Rumi, Khayyam's poetry represents the high point of classical Persian literature. Edward Fitzgerald was neither the first nor the most scholarly of the translators of the quatrains of Omar Khayyam, but due to his remarkable abilities as a poet, his versions have been accepted as classic literature in their own right. During his lifetime Fitzgerald published four editions of his translation - in 1859, 1868, 1872 and 1879 - and a fifth edition was released posthumously in 1889. In this recording are presented readings of all five editions as well as biographical material about Fitzgerald and Omar Khayyam and a laudatory poem by Andrew Lang,  which were published as part of the Fourth Edition. "Kevin Goes to Japan 2 Stories for Japanese Learners JLPT N5 to N3" is the sequel of my first book as well as Japanese learning materials, "Kevin Goes to Japan 1". This one also comes with 495 sample reading comprehension questions of JLPT from N5 to N3. These questions are from the story, including what each character thinks/feels. You can understand deeply about the story via reading comprehension. For N3 level questions, the last reading comprehensions are more like articles explaining Japanese culture and languages.
Besides, I used more complex words and expressions than in Kevin 1 as a Japanese light novel. You can enjoy love romance stories weaved by Kevin, Yumiko, Yukio, and Tomoko on Valentine's and White Day that is the original even related to Valentine's Day. Regardless of age, Japanese Valentine's Day is one of the most significant events of the year. Yukio and Kevin are pretty thrilled about whether they can get chocolate from Yumiko and Tomoko or not, but......? I hope you enjoy reading Kevin 2 as a bilingual love romance novel as well!

Pulitzer Prize winner and celebrated American master N. Scott Momaday returns with a radiant collection of more than 200 new and selected poems rooted in Native American tradition.

“The poems in this book reflect my deep respect for and appreciation of words. . . . I believe that poetry is the highest form of verbal expression. Although I have written in other forms, I find that poems are what I want and need most to read and write. They give life to my mind.”
One of the most important and unique voices in American letters, distinguished poet, novelist, artist, teacher, and storyteller N. Scott Momaday was born into the Kiowa tribe and grew up on Indian reservations in the Southwest. The customs and traditions that influenced his upbringing—most notably the Native American oral tradition—are the centerpiece of his work.
This luminous collection demonstrates Momaday’s mastery and love of language and the matters closest to his heart. To Momaday, words are sacred; language is power. Spanning nearly fifty years, the poems gathered here illuminate the human condition, Momaday’s connection to his Kiowa roots, and his spiritual relationship to the American landscape.
The title poem, “The Death of Sitting Bear” is a celebration of heritage and a memorial to the great Kiowa warrior and chief. “I feel his presence close by in my blood and imagination,” Momaday writes, “and I sing him an honor song.” Here, too, are meditations on mortality, love, and loss, as well as reflections on the incomparable and holy landscape of the Southwest.
The Death of Sitting Bear evokes the essence of human experience and speaks to us all.
