Synopsis

Will Sally and her family ever be able to go home? When heavy rains cause the river to flood, Sally, her family, and many of their neighbors have to evacuate their homes. With nothing but the clothes on their backs, they seek shelter at the local school. At first, it seems like an adventure, but as reports come in of whole houses being washed away, Sally learns the meaning of being a true friend and a good neighbor. Flood Friday is based on the actual flooding of western Connecticut in 1955. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Lois Lenski including rare images and never-before-seen documents from the author’s estate.

Children love to play and have fun, but as all parents know, children aren’t as enthusiastic about tidying things up. They’re always so busy with their favorite things that they leave such a mess in their room sometimes.
Baby Bear Cleans His Room is a charming bedtime story for young children, in which they learn how important it is to tidy away their things and keep their rooms clean and neat.
Three-year-old Baby Bear loves playing in his room, but toys, books, and clothes are scattered everywhere. He doesn’t want to clean his room until one day he loses a favorite toy. Children will identify with Baby Bear as he learns that cleaning his room does have benefits.
Baby Bear Cleans His Room also allows parents and teachers to provide children with information in an entertaining way about looking after treasured items and keeping things clean and tidy. Baby Bear Cleans His Room is a book for bedtime listening with younger children, but older children will also enjoy listening to this delightful story on their own.

Books in the Hide and Seek series provide an entertaining introduction to some of the words that tell us where things are. This book looks at “On” and “Under”, and features an animal character called Eddie the Elephant who is playing hide-and-seek. On each spread, Eddie is hiding using one of the two opposite words featured in the book’s title, and the reader is asked to find him. The fun, cartoon-like design combined with the interactive “hide-and-seek” approach makes these books visually appealing for young readers and great to read aloud together.

As Christmas Eve settles on the quiet trailer park, everything is as still as a rabbit caught in headlights. That is, until the Christmas Redneck appears on the scene. Dressed in camouflage, missing a few teeth, and chewing some tobacco, the Christmas Redneck comes bearing gifts for good little boy and girl Rednecks everywhere. His sack full of toys is hauled by his flying pickup truck and his eight hound dogs. The only question is: "Have you been a good Redneck this year?" If so, you, too, might see the Christmas Redneck. This delightful story is the newest in Pelican's Night Before Christmas series. Told in the tongue-in-cheek style familiar to fans of the series, this tale will entertain children and parents alike. The descriptive text and vivid illustrations make this book the perfect gift. David Davis is an award-winning political cartoonist with the Madison County Journal (Mississippi). An accomplished writer and artist, Davis is also the creator of "Travels with Grandpaw," an Internet comic strip. He currently resides with his family in Mississippi, deep in the heart of Redneck country. James Rice, widely acclaimed as a leading illustrator of children's books, now has over a half million of his books in print - a record that ranks him among the top authors and illustrators in the nation. He has written and/or illustrated over 25 books, including the bestselling Cajun Night Before Christmas.
