  European Imperialism in China:...

  During the 15th century, China had become economically and technologically advanced compared to civilizations in Europe at the time, and its fleet, which had reached a total of 3,500 ships, was unmatched by any other world power. Nevertheless, after conducting several trade expeditions with the massive fleet, the Chinese ships were either burned in the docks or left to rot. With that, China began to revert to the xenophobic policies of its past and reduce its presence in other lands. By 1525, the largest naval fleet in the world had essentially been destroyed or dismantled by China itself.  
  While China was in the process of isolating itself from the rest of the world, the European explorers were beginning to discover new lands, such as North America and South America. Among the countries doing the most exploring during this time were the Portuguese. The Portuguese had reached India in 1498, and by 1509 they had established part of their empire in India. This allowed the Portuguese to have a base of operations to further expand east into Asia. In 1511, the Portuguese captured the large spice trading center of Malacca in Malaysia, and like their base in India, Malacca allowed the Portuguese to have a foothold, thereby providing access to China and Southeast Asia. 
  The location of Macau was beneficial and strategically chosen by the Portuguese, as it was in close communication with Guangzhou and connected via a river system. In contrast to their earlier dealings with the Chinese, the Portuguese attempted to appear more humble and comply with the wishes of the Chinese rather than with force. As it turned out, the policy, in conjunction with increased European activities in the region, would help the Portuguese Empire hold on to Macau even as its fortunes dwindled everywhere else across the world.

  Persian Corridor in World War II...

  Operation Barbarossa was the most fateful decision of World War II, and when it gave the Soviets common cause with the British (and subsequently the Americans), the purpose of the Lend-Lease Act changed in nature as well. The bulk of Germany’s formidable armed forces were committed to the offensive in the east, which relieved the pressure on the British and meant that a German attack on Britain or elsewhere in Western Europe was not going to happen, so keeping the Soviets in the war became the most essential goal of the supply program. 
  Getting supplies to the Soviets to help them resist the German armies became a strategic imperative, and Iran’s geography of bordering the Persian Gulf to the south and Soviet territory to the north brought Iran to the front and center in the strategic supply effort. The German invasion devastated much of European Russia, but also devastated Ukraine and Belarus, other member “republics” in the Soviet Union, and the portions of the Soviet Union that bordered on Iran were Armenia, Azerbaijan and east of the Caspian, Turkmenistan. 
  The Persian Corridor involved British and Dominion forces, as well as Soviet armed forces and personnel, but the operation and management of the Persian Corridor became largely an American show. Most of the immense amount of aid sent was for transshipment across Iran to the Soviets, but it also involved supplying British and Commonwealth forces in Iran, Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East. Some was used to feed and supply Iran’s people, and some was used to modernize and maintain Iran’s infrastructure. There was also the need to supply the American troops working in the Persian Corridor. While 80% or so of the aid came from the U.S., there was also a significant amount of aid sent from Canada, Australia, South Africa and especially India.

  Throughout history, violence against children has taken every possible form (physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, neglect, and child labor), at times adopting quite strange shapes. He went on to say that in ancient times, even the right to life had to be conferred by a rite; before that, a kid with no rights might be disposed of as casually as an aborted fetus.Throughout much of history, adult-adolescent sexual interaction was not only permitted but often the standard; adult-child sexual interaction was somewhat less common but still reasonably prevalent. Many famous historical characters demonstrate that adult/adolescent, and to a lesser extent adult-child, sexual behavior was widespread and generally tolerated. The man-boy partnerships that were frequent in ancient Greece and Rome are one of the most well-known examples. Individual examples include St. Augustine, and Mahatma Gandhi.Child abuse and neglect do not often have visible warning signals. However, by learning to spot the indicators of a problem, you can make a significant impact on a child's life. Child abuse is more than simply black eyes. While physical abuse is horrifying because of its scars, not all indications of child abuse are as visible. Ignoring a child's needs, leaving them unsupervised in risky settings, exposing them to sexual situations, or making them feel worthless or foolish are all forms of child abuse and neglect that can leave profound, lasting scars on children.Abuse and neglect of any kind leave permanent scars. Some of these scars may be physical, but emotional scarring has long-term consequences, affecting a child's sense of self, future relationships, and capacity to perform at home, work, and school.Individuals who have been traumatized as children face unique issues that can be addressed via various healing techniques. The approach used and its efficacy differ from person to person and frequently change over time as the nature of trauma and healing shifts.
