Meet the new protectors of magic!

Ava and her friends have been practising magic so that they're ready to protect the powerful curios left by her great aunt. But when her mum's friend Jo comes over to take a picture of them, Ava is nervous. The artefacts can be unpredictable!

Then the town is met with a sudden stream of accidents, including a tree collapsing, burst water mains leading to roads being blocked off, and falling set pieces from the local theatre almost injuring the staff.

Ava suspects that the curios have something to do with it, but can she, Sarah, Lily and Pepper the puppy find out what is causing the town's sudden spate of bad luck?

Perfect for fans of suspenseful nonfiction such as books by Steve Sheinkin, this is a page-turning narrative about Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and pacifist who became an unlikely hero during World War II and took part in a plot to kill Hitler. Written by two-time National Book Award finalist Patricia McCormick, author of Sold and Never Fall Down and coauthor of the young reader’s edition of I Am Malala.
It was April 5, 1943, and the Gestapo would arrive any minute. Dietrich Bonhoeffer had been expecting this day for a long time. He had put his papers in order—and left a few notes specifically for Hitler’s men to see. Two SS agents climbed the stairs and told the boyish-looking Bonhoeffer to come with them. He calmly said good-bye to his parents, put his Bible under his arm, and left. Upstairs there was proof, in his own handwriting, that this quiet young minister was part of a conspiracy to kill Adolf Hitler.
This compelling, brilliantly researched account includes the remarkable discovery that Bonhoeffer was one of the first people to provide evidence to the Allies that Jews were being deported to death camps. It takes readers from his privileged early childhood to the studies and travel that would introduce him to peace activists around the world—eventually putting this gentle, scholarly pacifist on a deadly course to assassinate one of the most ruthless dictators in history. The Plot to Kill Hitler provides fascinating insights into what makes someone stand up for what’s right when no one else is standing with you. It is a question that every generation must answer again and again.

‘Mitchell is well aware of what will make kids laugh. An observant and captivatingly funny story’
Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Week
A hilarious adventure for readers aged 9+ from the author of Escape from Camp Boring. When Things Went Wild is also a timely call to protect our environment.
When Kit’s family move to a crumbling house in the Scottish Highlands, he’s got a lot to deal with – terrible Wi-Fi, a new school in the middle of nowhere, and, as always, his annoying little brother, Jack. But it’s not until the brothers find a strange object on the moors that Kit’s problems really begin.
A policewoman comes knocking, and the boys learn that they have found a tracker that has been removed from the leg of a golden eagle. The illegal killing of these majestic birds is all too common, and now a pair of nesting eagles are under threat. Kit and Jack start to investigate, soon joined by Tamora – the most popular girl in school – and her younger sister, Bea.
Who is trying to harm the eagles, and why? Chief suspects are landowner Lord Cavendish, local farmer McNab and sinister game keeper Mosby . . . Can the city kids cope with the country – and catch the culprit?
Tom Mitchell, the Sunday Times bestselling author, once again proves his knack for creating captivating stories for young adults. When Things Went Wild is a testament to his ability to blend humour, action, and a strong message about nature conservation in a way that resonates with the teenage audience.
For fans of Jeanne Duprau (Voyagers), Katherine Paterson (My Brigadista Year), Nidhi Chanani (Misty the Proud Cloud), Stacy Mcanulty (The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl), and Jake Burt (The Right Hook of Devin Velma).
