No matter how we try to sugarcoat it, there's something about suffering and loss that shakes our confidence, disorients us, dulls the things we once enjoyed, and brings questions that demand an answer. Tears and Tossings is a book for those days of chaos and nights of storms. Reflecting on her experiences of pain and hope, Sarah Walton encourages us to come to a God who loves us, knows us, and not only sees our tossings and tears, but holds them as his own.

Our culture wants you to be happy. It rewards those who smile through the pain, who pretend everything's fine, who compartmentalize grief and get on with life. But everything's not fine. And God does not expect us to pretend it is. He wants all of us—including our pain.

Perhaps nowhere in Scripture do we get as full a picture of the heights and depths of the human experience as in the Psalms. The outpourings of emotion never shy away from the darkest moments of life, and yet they also point toward the light—toward the God in whom we place our hope.

Inspired by Psalm 37, Voices of Lament is a powerful collection of reflections from Christian Women of Color on themes of injustice, heartache, and deep suffering. Their essays, prayers, poems, and liturgies lay bare the experiences of the oppressed even as they draw us into deeper intimacy with God and a more fulsome understanding of each other.

For anyone who longs to better express and understand the beauty of lament held in holy tension with hope and love, this extraordinary collection presents both well-known and new voices from various ethnic and people groups and different generations, putting God's faithfulness on full and glorious display.

Perhaps in no other way do we more vibrantly reflect our creator than with our creativity. Whether through music, writing, baking, painting, posting on social media, dancing, or any other form of artistic expression within our grasp, we were created to create. Yet, there are times we may be unsure about our art, times when our creating and making doesn't feel possible or purposeful or practical.

Rachel Marie Kang wants you to know that your art is not peripheral to life--it is at the very heart of why you exist and what you have to offer to yourself and to the world. In Let There Be Art, she gives you permission to embrace the peace, pleasure, and purpose inherent in your art and in the process of making it. This passionate, creative, and cathartic journey invites you to create truthfully out of the broken and beautiful pieces of your life, as well as offer your heart and your art in hopes of helping a hurting world.

In both Christian and pop culture, there is a fascination with the afterlife but also so much confusion, with people asking questions like:
What happens after you die? What happens if you die with Christ or without Christ? What happens when Jesus returns if you have or haven’t accepted Christ? What exactly comes next?
In What Happens After You Die Randy Frazee, the popular pastor of Oak Hills and general editor of the wildly successful Believe and The Story programs, answers your perennial questions about the afterlife with an accessible exploration of what the Bible really has to say on the subject. Born out of a deeply personal search for truth after the death of his mother, What Happens After You Die is a straightforward exploration of what the Bible says about life after death. From heaven and hell to the Lake of Fire and the actual presence of God, Frazee uncovers what is simply cultural tradition and what is truly biblical. He shows readers not only the death Jesus came to save us from but the life he came to save us for.
Based on a teaching series that has had more online views than any other series Frazee has done to date, What Happens After You Die is a guide to the perennial questions about life and death, what comes next, and how we should live until then. This book is the trustworthy and hopeful guide you have been looking for to help you navigate through the difficult questions about life after death.

My name is James Jerome Hankins. My mother, Faldenia, an AMEZ teacher gave me my first name James after St. James who said" if you have faith but don't do any work to help others, you are "nothing". My father, Edward, a Catholic barber gave me my middle name Jerome after St. Jerome who translated the bible from Greek to Latin and is the patron saint of writers. My last name, Hankins, came from my brave slave ancestor, "American Hero" Abraham Galloway. My cousin Abraham Galloway lived only 33 years (1837-1870) but he accomplished so much for our people. His country treated him as a 3rd class piece of property, but he like Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Medgar, Martin and Malcom refused to bow and worship a man -made golden idol.
My education started at St. Thomas Catholic private elementary school in Wilmington, NC to Shawtown High school in Lillington, NC to Williston Senior High in Wilmington, NC to North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC.
I have written guest commentary in three great black newspapers, Wilmington Journal, Greater Diversity and The County News. I also post on Facebook at least three times a month. This is my second book.
I have served as an Estate Administrator, power of attorney for a family friend, caregiver and court appointed guardian.
Last but not least I have been a 98% voter, volunteer register and precinct official in my Democratic party.
