Beschreibung

OMG UR a Teenager is a coming-of-age novel for the Me-Too generation. Full of Gen Z angst and humor and heart, it’s a revision of the classic story to highlight personal growth in a more feminist age.

Poised on the brink of becoming a teenager, Kat Cruz rides waves of excitement and worry. Life’s possibilities are on the horizon: her first bra, perhaps a boyfriend, maybe a job as a journalist. It all seems so close but just out of reach, until her family moves to a ramshackle fixer-upper and Kat meets the neighbor’s son, Will Morris. Despite the sad state of the house and a rash of burglaries in the area, one look into Will’s golden-brown eyes makes Kat think that perhaps the move won’t be so bad.

Kat relies on her best friend Jen to help her navigate their new adolescent world, including surviving her little brother Max’s superhero antics and catching Will’s attention. Kat’s parents are distracted by their floundering gym business and her grandmother’s advancing Alzheimer’s, leaving Kat to fend for herself against school bully Maria. Then Kat’s editorials in the school paper offend Will’s mother. Worse, her dance at the school talent show shocks her, and she turns her frosty back on the entire Cruz family. With life unraveling at the seams, Kat must grow more quickly than expected—and in more ways than simply filling out a bra.

A rock is a rock, part of cliff, road or sea. But now can you guess what else it can be?

A rock can be a…dinosaur bone, stepping-stone, hopscotch marker, fire sparker. Find out about the many roles a rock can play in this poetic exploration of rocks around the world.

Laura Purdie Salas's lyrical, rhyming text and Violeta Dabija's glowing illustrations make simple yet profound observations about seemingly ordinary objects and encourage readers to suggest "what else it can be!" Using metaphors for a leaf (tree topper / rain stopper), a rock (hopscotch marker / fire sparker), and water (thirst quencher / kid drencher), these insightful picture books creatively highlight a variety of roles and relationships in nature.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. THE GIRL BROWNIES – ASHDOWN FOREST 1919
Book 1 of 6 The Lost Brownies

The summary of this first book in the series is as follows:
In 1919, six Brownies—Lulu, Minnie, Lottie, Agatha, Bernadette, and Beryl—set out to earn their "Explorer" badges in Ashdown Forest, Sussex. Armed with a compass, a map, and boundless enthusiasm, they ventured deep into the woods, laughing and exploring. But as the day wore on, they realized they were lost. Fear crept in, but the resilient girls rallied, using the compass and map to navigate. They faced thorny brambles, startled wildlife, and fading light, singing songs to keep their spirits high. Finally, they found a stream and followed it back to camp, discovering an old rusted lantern along the way. Exhausted but triumphant, they returned to their relieved leaders, earning their badges and a newfound confidence. That night, the forest felt less daunting, and the girls dreamed of their next adventure.
I have worked very hard and meticulously to provide you with an enjoyable experience, the initial opening credit music, “Joyful Journey”, which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, recorder, tambourine, guitar and accordion in a folk/classical and cheerful mood. The closing music, “Bloom”, ends the tale on with more of the same at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments etc. but more of an ending feel and looking forward to the next story in the series.

The story and music itself runs to just about 13 minutes and is narrated in my wife's voice, Claire, who actually was a ranger guide!

I do hope you and your family, if applicable, enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come

Christmas on Ganymede by Isaac Asimov - Consider the problems of miners who work on Ganymede, moon of Jupiter, 390,000,000 miles from earth: isolated on a world so different from our own, surrounded by beings who know nothing of our traditions, how might these men teach their alien work-mates how we celebrate Christmas?
Olaf Johnson hummed nasally to himself and his china-blue eyes were dreamy as he surveyed the stately fir tree in the corner of the library. Though the library was the largest single room in the Dome, Olaf felt it none too spacious for the occasion. Enthusiastically he dipped into the huge crate at his side and took out the first roll of red-and-green crepe paper.
What sudden burst of sentiment had inspired the Ganymedan Products Corporation, Inc. to ship a complete collection of Christmas decorations to the Dome, he did not pause to inquire. Olaf’s was a placid disposition, and in his self-imposed job as chief Christmas decorator, he was content with his lot.
He frowned suddenly and muttered a curse. The General Assembly signal light was flashing on and off hysterically. With a hurt air Olaf laid down the tack-hammer he had just lifted, then the roll of crêpe paper, picked some tinsel out of his hair and left for officers quarters.
Commander Scott Pelham was in his deep armchair at the head of the table when Olaf entered. His stubby fingers were drumming unrhythmically upon the glass-topped table. Olaf met the commander’s hotly furious eyes without fear, for nothing had gone wrong in his department in twenty Ganymedan revolutions.
The room filled rapidly with men, and Pelham’s eyes hardened as he counted noses in one sweeping glance.
"We’re all here. Men, we face a crisis!"
There was a vague stir. Olaf’s eyes sought the ceiling and he relaxed. Crises hit the Dome once a revolution, on the average.
