Synopsis

The Code of Hammurabi is a Babylonian legal text composed during 1755–1750 BC. It is the longest, best-organised, and best-preserved legal text from the ancient Near East. It is written in the Old Babylonian dialect of Akkadian, purportedly by Hammurabi, sixth king of the First Dynasty of Babylon. The primary copy of the text is inscribed on a basalt stele 2.25 m (7 ft 4+1⁄2 in) tall.

The stele was rediscovered in 1901 at the site of Susa in present-day Iran, where it had been taken as plunder six hundred years after its creation. The text itself was copied and studied by Mesopotamian scribes for over a millennium. The stele now resides in the Louvre Museum.

Leonard William King (8 December 1869 – 20 August 1919) was an English archaeologist and Assyriologist educated at Rugby School and King's College, Cambridge. He collected stone inscriptions widely in the Near East, taught Assyrian and Babylonian archaeology at King's College for a number of years, and published a large number of works on these subjects. He is also known for his translations of ancient works such as the Code of Hammurabi. He became Assistant Keeper of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities at the British Museum.

America's Got Talent (AGT) is an American talent show competition that is part of the global Got Talent franchise. The show has had multiple hosts including Regis Philbin, Jerry Springer, Nick Cannon, Tyra Banks and currently Terry Crews. The judging panel has included David Hasselhoff, Brandy Norwood, Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Mel B, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, Julianne Hough, Gabrielle Union and Sofía Vergara. CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:

Simon Cowell created America's Got Talent because he wanted a talent competition that was "far grander" than other televised contests. The original plan was for a British edition, but a dispute led to the American version premiering first.

America's Got Talent premiered on June 21, 2006, after the British version was suspended, and it was a ratings success for NBC. The show draws an average of around 10 million viewers per season.

The show has a wide range of acts, including singing, dancing, comedy, magic, and stunts. Participants try to impress a panel of judges to get into the live episodes.

The winner of America's Got Talent receives a large cash prize, which is mainly paid over a period of time. Since season three, the winner also gets a chance to headline a show on the Las Vegas Strip.
