She never questioned why, and always did her best to fix things, until the year that her mother became gravely ill, and her mother-in-law was diagnosed with stage- four lung cancer—, things that were out of her control and beyond her ability to fix them. All at once, many unfortunate, very stressful incidents happened around the same time and Leianne found herself overwhelmed with grief and to the point that she knew something was terribly wrong. She learned things about grief that she did not know and how it can rear its ugly head in many different ways and the different ways it shows up.
Not only did what was about to happen to her did her journey become extremely overwhelming, but it also affected her children deeply and the definition of family took on a greater meaning. René Descartes, often regarded as the father of modern philosophy, revolutionized the intellectual landscape of the seventeenth century. Descartes' intellectual pursuits extended beyond philosophy. His contributions to mathematics were equally significant, particularly in the creation of Cartesian geometry, which established a link between algebra and geometry through the use of coordinate planes. This innovation became a cornerstone of modern mathematics and physics, influencing generations of scientists. His emphasis on deduction and reason over mere observation shaped the trajectory of scientific inquiry, reinforcing the idea that true knowledge must be derived from fundamental principles.
His most famous philosophical work, Meditations on First Philosophy, published in 1641, sought to establish an unshakable foundation for human knowledge. In this work, he introduced the concept of radical skepticism, questioning the reliability of sensory perception and challenging assumptions about reality. Through this process, he arrived at his famous conclusion, "Cogito, ergo sum" (I think, therefore I am), which he considered the first indubitable truth. From this foundation, Descartes attempted to prove the existence of God and the distinction between mind and body, a theory known as Cartesian dualism.

There he managed to establish a resilient community that mostly lived outside the repressions of the apartheid regime. The journey takes the author from Johannesburg's Marabi-soaked townships of the 1930s to his childhood home of Gelukspan near Lichtenburg and then to rural Free State and the mountain kingdom of Lesotho. In what becomes a spiritual quest, he traces the inspirational footsteps of his ancestors and the legendary King Moshoeshoe.
Mofokeng also explores the politics and history of the Dutch Reformed Church's Black constituency and uncovers why to this day it is called Kereke ya Fora – or 'Church of the French' – and its hymns are sung across denominations and in social spaces outside the church.

Bad Henry - The Murderous...

Henry Louis Wallace terrorized Charlotte, North Carolina, from May 1992 to March 1994. 
 
 
 
Wallace preyed on lower economic class Black women between seventeen and thirty-five years old. He knew most of his victims, some through his job at Taco Bell, and gained their trust with his friendly demeanor and gentle nature—concealing a monster fueled by drug abuse and rage against women. 
 
 
 
A rarity in that he was an African American serial killer, his murderous rampage spurred controversy throughout the city. Community members accused local police of ignoring the murders because of the victims' race. The ensuing investigation became the largest in North Carolina’s history. 
 
 
 
Wallace was eventually found guilty and convicted of nine counts of murder, but he admitted to more killings while incarcerated; he is potentially responsible for anywhere from twenty to ninety deaths of Black women. Wallace continues to appeal and awaits his execution at Central Prison in Raleigh.
