Synopsis

Ava was born with wings. No one called them that until she was two years old. She hides her wings under a special device her father made for her. She never takes off her backpack at school. No one knows her secret, not even her best friend Theo, who was born with two different-colored eyes. The doctor told Ava that she can choose to have the wings removed when she turns sixteen. The big day arrives, and she can't decide what to do. Without her wings, Ava thinks she can be like everybody else. But is that what she really wants? When Ava makes a new friend at school, she begins to see things--and herself--in new ways. Lucy offers her friendship and exquisite drawings of wings. Lucy makes Ava think. The Other asks us to consider what it means to be different and what it means to accept the unique parts of ourselves.

Twain began his career writing light, humorous verse, but he became a chronicler of the vanities, hypocrisies, and murderous acts of mankind. At mid-career, he combined rich humor, sturdy narrative, and social criticism in Huckleberry Finn. He was a master of rendering colloquial speech and helped to create and popularize a distinctive American literature built on American themes and language.
A complete bibliography of Twain's works is nearly impossible to compile because of the vast number of pieces he wrote (often in obscure newspapers) and his use of several different pen names.
This book contains more than 30 of the most famous and significant works of Mark Twain.

Step into the chilling depths of H. P. Lovecraft’s “The Festival”, a haunting tale of ancestral secrets, forbidden rituals, and cosmic dread. Set in the eerie town of Kingsport during the Yuletide season, this gothic masterpiece unravels a nightmarish journey where family heritage intertwines with unspeakable horrors. As the protagonist is drawn into a macabre festival beneath an ancient church, Lovecraft’s signature blend of supernatural terror and psychological unease blurs the line between reality and madness. Perfect for fans of dark fiction, eldritch mysteries, and timeless horror.

Rick Shelley concludes his military sci-fi trilogy following the exploits of the Lucky 13th Spaceborne Assault Team as they undertake a daring strike aimed at the heart of the enemy. The ongoing three-sided war among the Schlinal Hegemony, the Dogel Worlds, and the Accord of Free Worlds has worn down all the combatants. Even as the most recent entrant to the hostilities, the Accord is already running out of men and material. And now the Hegemony is forming up for another offensive. The time has come for desperate measures.Deep in Schlinal Hegemony space lies the planet Tamkailo. It is a world not meant for humans, with low oxygen levels and surface temperatures close to the boiling point. Simply surviving in such an environment is unlikely, let alone waging war. But that is where Sgt. Joe “The Bear” Baerclau and Lucky 13th are headed.Because the Hegemony is not only using Tamkailo as a staging point for their offensive. The planet is one of their biggest armories, holding weapons of war that could wipe out the Accord. It’s up to the 13th to destroy it. Outgunned and outmanned, the very survival of freedom in the galaxy is now in their battle-scarred hands…
