Set against the rustic backdrop of farm life, the story employs a simple yet engaging literary style marked by vivid imagery and relatable dialogue. Hope seamlessly intertwines themes of family, curiosity, and resilience, inviting readers to explore the joys and challenges of rural existence, while reflecting the literary context of early 20th-century children's literature that often celebrates innocence and the natural world. Laura Lee Hope, a pseudonym used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate, penned this charming tale during an era focused on children's fictional adventures. From the critically acclaimed author of Train I Ride and Echo’s Sister comes a moving story of friendship between two girls looking for some happiness in a world that can be a little cruel. Perfect for fans of Rebecca Stead, Ali Standish, and Erin Entrada Kelly.
Twelve-year-old Juillet is preparing for the worst summer ever. She and her mom are staying in the seaside neighborhood of Ocean Park, California, for a month, where her mom will be working at the local hospital and Juillet will be on her own, like always.
Her dad is off in Europe with his new girlfriend, and her best friend, Fern . . . well, Juiller isn’t allowed to talk to Fern anymore. Fern took the blame for Juillet’s goth-girl clothes and “not-real” fears, like sharks and rip currents and the number three.
Then Juillet meets Summer, a local surfer girl who knows the coolest people and places around town. With free-spirited and adventurous Summer, Juillet begins to come out of her shell and face the things weighing her down. But when Summer reveals her own painful secret, it’s Juillet’s turn to be the strong and supportive friend.

    Dear Listeners,
In this book one learns about the fundamental principles of bhakti-yoga and how these principles free one's life completely from material suffering. In due course of time wisdom was transferred from the Supreme Person, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, to the people of this world.
“The Personality of Godhead, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, said: I instructed this imperishable science of yoga to the sun-god, Vivasvān, and Vivasvān instructed it to Manu, the father of mankind, and Manu in turn instructed it to Ikṣvāku.
This supreme science was thus received through the chain of disciplic succession, and the saintly kings understood it in that way. But in course of time the succession was broken, and therefore the science as it is appears to be lost.”
    (BG 4.1-2)
Due to the fact that this transcendental wisdom of yoga was lost over time, now we have to remind ourselves of it and revive it again.
I am writing therefore as a messenger of the spiritual discipline of yoga, steadily engaged in serving humanity. Recognising the importance of this transcendental wisdom, we want to invite you to learn about the Mantra-Meditation particularly. Perhaps you are already following meditation or have some knowledge of yoga, nonetheless, one can learn a lot from this book “Via Medium”.
It concerns the history of the transmission of transcendental knowledge, the mantra meditation, its technique and theology, as well as the supreme science - bhakti-yoga.
It also tells a personal story and transformative account with the Maha-Mantra meditation and how I got to know His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, a bona fide spiritual master, receiving initiation into the spiritual discipline as a servant of Kṛṣṇa, the son of Mother Yashoda, receiving the spiritual name Yaśomatinandana Dāsa.

When twelve-year-old Cove Bernstein becomes the target of a school-wide bullying campaign, she sets out to find a way to leave her home on Martha’s Vineyard for New York City, where her best friend lives. But Cove discovers that friends can appear in the unlikeliest places, and maybe home isn’t the worst place to be after all.
Jennifer Blecher’s debut novel is a voice-driven story about bullying, friendship, and self-reliance that hits the sweet spot for fans of Ali Benjamin’s The Thing About Jellyfish and Erin Entrada Kelly’s You Go First.
Twelve-year-old Cove Bernstein’s year has gone from bad to worse. First, her best friend, Nina, moved from Martha’s Vineyard to New York City. Then, without Nina around, Cove became the target of a bullying campaign at school. Escape seems impossible.
But opportunities can appear when you least expect them. Cove’s visit to a secondhand clothing store leads her to a surprising chance to visit Nina, but only if she can win a coveted place in a kids-only design competition. Cove doesn’t know how to sew, but her friend at the retirement home, Anna, has promised to teach her. And things start really looking up when a new kid at school, Jack, begins appearing everywhere Cove goes.
Then Cove makes a big mistake. One that could ruin every good thing that has happened to her this year. One that she doesn’t know how to undo.
Jennifer Blecher’s accessible and beautifully written debut novel explores actions and consequences, loneliness, bullying, and finding your voice. This voice-driven friendship story is for fans of Rebecca Stead’s Goodbye Stranger and Jodi Kendall’s The Unlikely Story of a Pig in the City.
    Includes black-and-white spot art throughout.
