It's a well known fact that H.P. Lovecraft was a horribly racist man, and that some of his earliest stories reflect that particular worldview. This can make it awkward for those who would like to read his work and see what all the fuss is about but don't want to have to wade through the putrid swamp of his views on people of color and immigrants.
In response to this issue, I have put together this collection of the H.P. Lovecraft short stories written between 1917 and 1923, but with the omission of the really racist ones (there are still one or two lines in one or two of the stories included here that might raise the odd eyebrow, but nothing overtly racist). You may now peruse the works of the master of weird fiction without fear that you'll have to deal with his opinions of the master race, and that's a good thing. Lovecraft was a racist douchebag, but he was also a visionary writer of amazingly creative and breathtaking stories without which entire genres of fiction would not exist, and on that score the literary world owes him a debt of gratitude.
In this audio book version I will read you the stories as suspensefully and creepily they deserve to be read. For best results, listen on a good set of headphones. In the dark. Under a blanket. Just don't expect to get much sleep.
Come see (hear) what all the fuss is about.

Under the enchanted canopy of Eldergrove, where ancient trees murmur secrets in the language of leaves and wild spirits dance on moonbeams, druid Thorne seals an eternal pact with Sylva, the forest's untamed spirit manifested as a ethereal nymph with bark-veined skin. Exiled from his order for embracing the wild's chaos, Thorne's covenant with Sylva unleashes a verdant renaissance—or a rampant overgrowth that could entomb civilizations. As they wander root-woven paths and glade-shrouded hollows, stalked by poacher shamans and corrupted treants, their pact's magic entwines druidic runes with sylvan whispers, revealing a primordial forest prophecy of balance. When a logging baron's enchanted axes threaten the canopy's heart, Thorne and Sylva must summon the wild's fury to defend their bond. In the depths of ancient woods, where every root binds fate and every moonbeam illuminates desire, their eternal love becomes the pact that nurtures the forest's undying soul.

"This book is more than beautiful." - Yuyi Morales, Caldecott Honoree and New York Times bestselling creator of DreamersA powerful story about home, community, and hope, inspired by the rebuilding of Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria in 2017, written by debut author Karina González and illustrated by Krystal Quiles.Co-quí, co-quí! When the sounds of the coquíes gradually return, they reflect the resilience and strength of Elena, her family, and her fellow Puerto Ricans. The Coquies Still Sing is also available in Spanish.Pura Belpré Honor Book for Children's TextPura Belpré Honor Book for Children's IllustrationA Chicago Public Library Best Picture Books of 2022 selectionA Macmillan Audio production from Roaring Brook Press.
