Synopsis

In "The Birds' Christmas Carol," Kate Douglas Smith Wiggin delivers a poignant narrative that blends sentimentalism with social commentary through the lens of childhood innocence. Set against the backdrop of a small New England town, Wiggin brings to life the gentle yet profound story of Carol, a sweet-natured girl who is ailing but possesses a boundless spirit. The literary style is characterized by lyrical prose and vivid imagery, drawing readers into a world where simple acts of kindness and compassion illuminate the holiday season. The book's exploration of themes like generosity and the spirit of Christmas reflects both the Victorian-era values of empathy and charity as well as a budding progressive consciousness towards social welfare, making it a timeless story that resonates with contemporary themes of community and altruism. Kate Douglas Smith Wiggin, an influential author and social reformer, was deeply committed to children's literature and advocacy for early childhood education. Her experiences in teaching and her passion for promoting the welfare of children shaped her writing. Wiggin's own childhood and her encounters with the impoverished revealed to her the profound impact of simple kindness, guiding her to infuse these values into her storytelling. "The Birds' Christmas Carol" is a heartwarming read that is energetically recommended for those seeking rich narratives that celebrate the human spirit. This delightful tale, filled with charm and warmth, is perfect for the festive season and serves as a reminder of the transformative power of love and generosity, making it a cherished addition to any literary collection.

135 JLPT sample questions and word lists come with the story.
This reading level is almost N1 level because the story goes towards an end, and I wanted to focus on more plots and how the characters feel. Also, the setting is in the UK, which makes word lists longer. Reading my book does not mean that you will be able to speak Japanese fluently, but I believe you will have improved your reading comprehension skills because I made it progressively more difficult from 1 to 4.
The paperback versions will be released soon to check the word lists and practice sample questions for some of you.
I hope you keep learning Japanese through the bilingual novel entitled "Parasite Man," a story about Yukio and Tomoko. (Kevin and Yumiko will be there, but not soon.) Five of Yukio's colleagues weave love stories where they want to be loved. Can they find true love? The first volume will be released in August/September 2022.
Thank you again, and good luck studying Japanese and reading bilingual novels.

But when she arrives at Foxglove Manor--a stone house on a cliff overlooking Lake Superior--Adria senses wickedness hovering over the property. The mistress of Foxglove is an eccentric and seemingly cruel old woman who has filled her house with dangerous secrets, ones that may cost Adria her life.

    Present day.
Kailey Gibson is a new nurse's aide at a senior home in a renovated old stone manor. Kidnapped as a child, she has nothing but locked-up memories of secrets and death, overshadowed by the chilling promise from her abductors that they would return. When the residents of Foxglove start sharing stories of whispers in the night, hidden treasure, and a love willing to kill, it becomes clear this home is far from a haven. She'll have to risk it all to banish the past's demons, including her own.
