""Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", commonly known as "Alice in Wonderland", is an 1865 English children's novel written by Lewis Carroll, a mathematics don at Oxford University. The story follows a young girl named Alice who falls through a rabbit hole into a whimsical and fantastical world inhabited by anthropomorphic creatures. This novel is a prime example of the literary nonsense genre. In this captivating tale, Alice encounters peculiar characters such as the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts. The narrative plays with logic, creating a delightful blend of absurdity and imagination. The artist John Tenniel provided 42 wood-engraved illustrations for the book, which have become iconic. "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" received positive reviews upon its release and is now one of the best-known works of Victorian literature. Its influence extends far beyond the pages of the book, shaping popular culture and inspiring adaptations for screen, radio, art, ballet, opera, musicals, theme parks, board games, and video games. Carroll's sequel, "Through the Looking-Glass", continues Alice's adventures in another whimsical realm. This timeless classic invites readers of all ages to explore a world where imagination knows no bounds."
