Synopsis

"Mythic Beasts" explores the captivating world of legendary creatures, examining their origins and cultural significance across diverse civilizations. These beasts, far from being mere fantasies, reveal profound insights into the anxieties, aspirations, and collective experiences of the societies that birthed them. For instance, dragons, often depicted as fearsome fire-breathers, symbolize chaos and destruction in some cultures, while representing wisdom and good fortune in others. Similarly, the elusive unicorn, a symbol of purity and grace, appears in various forms throughout history and folklore, reflecting humanity's enduring quest for the unattainable.

The book adopts an interdisciplinary approach, blending historical analysis with scientific inquiry to understand why these creatures were created and why they continue to fascinate us. Examining ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia, Greece, and East Asia, the book reveals how environmental factors, social structures, and early scientific understandings shaped these mythical beings.

The book progresses through three main sections, beginning with the core concepts, moving into regional traditions, and concluding with the lasting legacy of these creatures in art and literature, offering a comprehensive perspective on their enduring appeal.

A scrutiny of how algorithm has been widely used in order to perform any task has been done here. The step-by-step solution to any problem is an algorithm.
The set of rules and steps which should be followed so that the task is performed smoothly, is called an algorithm. It is the guidelines presented/ listed in a systematic way which is required while performing the task.
The era of modernization where computer holds almost all the importance is also based on an algorithm. There are multiple problem-solving operations which require certain guidelines so that the goals are achieved. The languages of the computer which builds a relation between machine and humans work on these algorithms. No wonder the world knows what to do and how but the computer needs guidelines!
The instructions provided by the user makes it possible for the computer to work out the problem-solving statement. There have to be some standards of the algorithm that the device should understand. The algorithm is not only used in computers but it also holds great utilization in cooking and mathematics.
The algorithm can be in various ways but as for coding there are has to be certain specific coded terms. The algorithm should be simple so that it is easy to understand and can be followed. There are various areas where algorithms are used in mathematics. The big problems which need expert solutions need proper methodology. This method is provided by algorithms. It is not necessary that the algorithms should be short. It varies from problem to problem. The mathematics subject has always been a tough one. Many difficult problems need proper step-by-step explanation. The different answers to various problems can be efficiently explained by algorithms provided. The simpler specifications help to solve bigger problems as well. The algorithm contains the constrained set of instructions in understandable language. The more procedure-oriented problems appear more need of algorithm is required. The algorithm used in computers is different based on the type of problem. The algorithm can be of several types in computers, such as string operator type, recursive backtracking and divide and operator. Randomized operator algorithms are also of great use. There are various properties of algorithms such as they should be input and output specified. They should be definite and effective. The finiteness of algorithm should be maintained by the means of input and output specified. It means that the input should be given to the processor and then output should be received. The moment when a computer receives the input, the command is achieved and it starts its working to produce the output. The relation between the input and output should be maintained. The algorithm should be specific and if these properties are hindered, the system is malfunctioned. The command and coding require a brief introduction. The algorithm provided is that brief instruction which acts as the helping hand for the coder.
Not only in computers, but even in mathematics, the formula provided is kind of a helping hand for any problem. The algebraic problems are in need of some pre-instructions which ensure the absolute results.

The Red Cross of today stands as a living memorial to the lifelong efforts of this valiant lady.
Here Miss Barton tells the story of the first twenty-five years of the historic organization she founded. She shares details about the relief the Red Cross brought during the Texas Famine, the Mount Vernon Cyclone, the Johnstown Flood, the Sea Island Hurricane, and the Galveston Tidal Wave. One of the world’s most creative mathematicians offers a new way to look at math—focusing on questions, not answers

    “Brilliant.”—Popular Science

Where do we learn math: From rules in a textbook? From logic and deduction? Not really, according to mathematician Eugenia Cheng: we learn it from human curiosity—most importantly, from asking questions. This may come as a surprise to those who think that math is about finding the one right answer, or those who were told that the “dumb” question they asked just proved they were bad at math. But Cheng shows why people who ask questions like “Why does 1 + 1 = 2?” are at the very heart of the search for mathematical truth.

Is Math Real? is a much-needed repudiation of the rigid ways we’re taught to do math, and a celebration of the true, curious spirit of the discipline. Written with intelligence and passion, Is Math Real? brings us math as we’ve never seen it before, revealing how profound insights can emerge from seemingly unlikely sources.

The question is no longer if electric vehicles will happen, or even when they'll happen, but how. Veteran automotive reporter Mike Colias takes you inside the transformation in this thoroughly reported profile of the hard pivot in the car business, a $2 trillion industry undergoing the biggest change in its 120-year history—a change that is already sending ripples across the entire global economy.

Colias documents the inevitable shift from pistons to electrons from every angle, taking you inside the boardrooms where executives battle over their EV strategies to take on Tesla and, more recently, emerging Chinese powerhouses such as BYD. He brings you to family-run car dealerships deciding if they'll sell EVs—or sell their businesses. He follows entrepreneurs along lonely stretches of road that will soon need charging stations. He talks to power-train engineers whose skills were once the beating heart of the automotive industry but who now find themselves being replaced by coders.

Inevitable is a deeply enjoyable and smart book that uses masterful storytelling to capture the expanse and dynamism of the transition to electric vehicles in profound detail, bringing to life its seismic effects on everything and everyone.
