Synopsis

'AI vs ML' provides a comprehensive exploration of the often-misunderstood distinction between artificial intelligence and machine learning, offering clarity through historical context, practical applications, and technical frameworks. The book traces the parallel evolution of these technologies from the 1950s Dartmouth Conference to their current state, demonstrating how ML developed as a specialized subset of AI focused on data-driven learning systems, while AI encompasses broader attempts to simulate human intelligence.Through three well-structured sections, the book examines fundamental concepts like neural networks and deep learning, before diving into real-world applications across industries such as healthcare and finance. What sets this work apart is its practical framework for decision-makers, helping them evaluate whether their specific technical challenges require AI, ML, or a combination of both. The book supports its analysis with academic research and industry case studies, providing quantitative metrics on performance and economic impact. The content progresses logically from theoretical foundations to practical implementation strategies, incorporating decision trees and evaluation matrices for technology selection.Written in an accessible yet technical style, it serves both as an educational resource and a decision-making guide for technology managers and business strategists. The book maintains objectivity throughout, addressing key debates about AI safety and ML bias while avoiding speculative predictions about future capabilities, making it particularly valuable for professionals involved in digital transformation initiatives.

Wernher von Braun ( March 23, 1912 – June 16, 1977) was a German aerospace engineer and space architect. He was the leading figure in the development of rocket technology in Nazi Germany and a pioneer of space technology and science in the United States.
After World War II, von Braun was secretly moved to the US, along with roughly 1,600 other German scientists, engineers, and technicians, as part of Operation Paperclip. He worked for the United States Army on an intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) program, and he developed the rockets that launched the United States' first space satellite Explorer 1.
He served as director of the Marshall Space Flight Center and as the chief architect of the Saturn V super heavy-lift launch vehicle that propelled the Apollo spacecraft to the Moon. In 1955, von Braun became a naturalized citizen of the United States. In 1975, von Braun received the National Medal of Science. This recording is from Dr. Von Braun's speech at the 1st Annual SOLE Symposium, September 13, 1966, in Huntsville Alabama.

Sirius, the Star of the Maltese Temples invites the reader to look at the megalithic temples of Malta in an entirely new way. The discovery of the temples’ orientation to Sirius explains with mathematical precision the slight shift in the direction of their axes, caused by the movement of the stars called the Precession of the Equinoxes. The resultant astronomical dating of the temples to the Mesolithic, the period immediately after the last Ice Age, is far older than mainstream archaeology maintains and is on a par with other megalithic sites elsewhere, including Göbekli Tepe in Turkey. These findings turn on its head our conception of the accomplishments of ancient people. Instead of being just primitive cave-dwellers, they were primeval astronomers, whose interest in the sky has left us a legacy we never dreamt existed.
From the Foreword by Giovanni Bonello: “This is a disturbing book. The author defines its contents as controversial and its conclusions as surprising. I judge it to be far, but far, more than that. It is disruptive of accepted wisdom and unsettles all we believe we knew of the origin of man in Malta, of the sequences of early civilization and the histories of prehistory – not in Malta alone, but throughout the whole of Europe. I started reading it in awe, at first with a deliberate effort at disbelief. By the time I was approaching the climax of the exposition, I ended as mesmerized as I was perplexed.”
(Giovanni Bonello is a human rights lawyer and judge who served at the European Court of Human Rights for 12 years)

The globetrotting story of how humans have harnessed the geographical landscape and written ourselves onto our surroundings.Mountains, meridians, rivers, and borders—these are some of the features that divide the world on our maps and in our minds. But geography is far less set in stone than we might believe, and, as Maxim Samson’s Earth Shapers contends, in our relatively short time on this planet, humans have become experts at fundamentally reshaping our surroundings. From the Qhapaq Ñan, the Inca’s “great road,” and Mozambique’s colonial railways to a Saudi Arabian smart city, and from Korea’s sacred Baekdu-daegan mountain range and the Great Green Wall in Africa to the streets of Chicago, Samson explores how we mold the world around us. And how, as we etch our needs onto the natural landscape, we alter the course of history. These fascinating stories of connectivity show that in our desire to make geographical connections, humans have broken through boundaries of all kinds, conquered treacherous terrain, and carved up landscapes. We crave linkages, and though we do not always pay attention to the in-between, these pathways—these ways of “earth shaping,” in Samson’s words—are key to understanding our relationship with the planet we call home.An immense work of cultural geography touching on ecology, sociology, history, and politics, Earth Shapers argues that, far from being constrained by geography, we are instead its creators.
