Beschreibung

Dear Reader,

The book you have chosen recounts the stories of woe. Of all books to cite unhappy endings, these stories may very well be the most miserable yet. The book you are holding in your hands tells the tales of events never heard or long forgotten. Tales of misery and pain and anguish lost to the decent. There is no innocence in these stories, no one is blameless.

It is my honor and sorrowful duty to record these events. To protect them and share them with the public. Discretion is advised.

In all sincerity,

K. M. Dunn

This is the first novel in an anthological series of short stories written and revisited over a course of a four year-period. These stories follow the narratives of monsters, ghosts, murderers, cannibals, witches, royalty, and prophecies, each of which features a different genre or theme...

Henrietta Dorothy Huskisson was born in January 1851 in Gillingham, Kent.

Little reliable information on her life is available and almost nothing on her early life.

The first concrete information concerns her marriage at age 18 to the solicitor Isaac Edward Everett.

It was only at the age of 44 that she began her literary career under the pseudonym of Theo Douglas, a popular device in a society that still frowned upon women writing for income.

During her lifetime she was a popular author and wrote 22 books and those were published by 17 different publishers.

Although she wrote some historical novels her main output was centered on fantasy and supernatural themes.

Henrietta Dorothy Everett died in Weston-on-Trent in Derbyshire in September 1923.

Step into the chilling depths of H. P. Lovecraft’s “The Festival”, a haunting tale of ancestral secrets, forbidden rituals, and cosmic dread. Set in the eerie town of Kingsport during the Yuletide season, this gothic masterpiece unravels a nightmarish journey where family heritage intertwines with unspeakable horrors. As the protagonist is drawn into a macabre festival beneath an ancient church, Lovecraft’s signature blend of supernatural terror and psychological unease blurs the line between reality and madness.
