Synopsis

The Master of the World is a sci-fi novel by Jules Verne. A string of inexplicable occurrences take place throughout the eastern United States, triggered by objects moving with such great velocity that they are almost imperceptible. Robur, a talented inventor, has completed a new machine, which he has dubbed the Terror. It is a ten-meter long vehicle, capable of functioning as a speedboat, submarine, automobile, or aircraft. It can travel at the (then) unheard of speed of 150 miles per hour on land and at more than 200 mph when flying… The Master of the World is a "black novel," packed with foreboding and fear of the rise of oppressors and totalitarianism. A captivating read!
