Summary

The Black Codex of José Hernández

(Medieval historical fiction novel set in the 11th century A.D.)

Adventure, intrigue, action and excitement in a medieval story.

The Black Codex

The Black Codex is a story of passion, intrigue, and power in a time no longer remembered. It is revealed through the investigations of Raquel, a young engineer who is shocked by a detail in a Romanesque church in the Lleida Pyrenees. Throughout the development of the story, she is accompanied by Xavier Rivas, professor of medieval history at the University of Girona, with whom she begins a very close relationship.

At a time when legend and reality intertwine in the night of time, in 1035, a year of convulsions in general, Wilfred of Berga, his wife and Leodovico, a minstrel who has recently arrived in the region and who brings with him legends from distant lands, will begin a search for the impossible that will defy both reason and faith and will unleash the wrath of the darkest powers.

A powerful portrait of the Middle Ages with main characters such as Oliba, Guillermos de Besalú, the King of Navarre, the Bishop of Urgel... A combination of characters who go to the place where it all began, the Lleida Pyrenees, where it will have a dramatic end as a result of internal struggles between feudal lords, whose entire conflict is recorded in a cursed book: The Black Codex.

"Those who trust us educate us." George Eliot

In this enduring Victorian classic written in 1876, two stories weave in and out of each other: The first is about Gwendolen, one of Eliot's finest creations, who grows from a self-centered young beauty to a thoughtful adult with an expanded vision of the world around her. The second is about Daniel Deronda, adopted son of an aristocratic Englishman who becomes fascinated with Jewish traditions when he meets an ailing Jewish philosopher named Mordecai and his sensitive sister, Mira.

Mary Ann Evans, known by her pen name George Eliot, was an English novelist, poet, journalist, translator, and one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. ‘A delightful and engaging romantic novel that adds a fresh and modern twist to the world of love and algorithms.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
'Freaking PERFECTION. 10/10. This was just so so good. I couldn’t get enough of it and wanted a thousand more pages of this.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
‘Trust me when I say you won't regret reading Once Upon An Algorithm and I hope you cherished their love story as much as I did.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
'As someone who works on a SaaS product in real life, although as a marketer, it was almost weird (in a good way) to be placed in a setting that's so familiar. I'm used to not understanding much of what they professionally talk about in STEM romances, so it was fun to be on the other side this time.’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The contemporary fiction of Once Upon An Algorithm takes you on a journey through the intricacies of workplace relationships, where technology plays a pivotal role. Clara O’Connor masterfully weaves a tale of love and conflict, where the protagonists grapple with their feelings for each other amidst the complexities of their professional lives.
For fans of Camilla Isley (The Roommate Experiment), Victoria Walters (The Plot Twist), Laura Carter (Catch a Falling Star), Lucy Score (No More Secrets), and Rebecca Yarros (The Things We Leave Unfinished).
