The Privet and the Blackbird (2019) is a work for string quartet, piano and soprano voice. The text is a reinterpretation of the original fable of Leonardo da Vinci by Cyril Masai and depicts therelationship between a blackbird and the bush. The music, therefore, follows this text entirely and vividly portrays everything from being trapped in a cage to the dissonance between the two,the emotion and anger present, but also some bird sounds from a blackbird in the piano and a speaking and sweet presence within a dissonant setting.
