Synopsis

Experiencing abuse and neglect in childhood can lead to adverse outcomes in adulthood.Adult survivors of untreated child abuse often suffer a range of long-term detrimental effects that adversely affect their functioning in numerous areas of their lives. Unfortunately, the enduring impact of chronic abuse in childhood is not well understood. This book is focused on increasing understanding of the long-term effects of traumatic childhood experiences from both psychological and physiological perspectives. Additionally, this book explores whether the pathology frequently seen in adult survivors is a direct or secondary effect of their abuse. Along with scientific and theoretical text-based data, solicited written narratives by an adult survivor of childhood physical, sexual, and psychological abuse are analyzed utilizing hermeneutic methodology with elements of grounded theory to discover relevant connections between the fields of neuroscience, memory research, attachment theory, and trauma research. The relevance of findings of the diagnosis of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is discussed, and the implications for clinical practice are explored.

    ABOUT THE ORIGINAL BOOK
“How to Be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi explores the complex dynamics of race and racism, offering a comprehensive examination of how racial inequalities are embedded in societal structures. Kendi distinguishes between racist and antiracist actions, emphasizing that racism is not just about personal beliefs but is rooted in policies that perpetuate inequality. The book addresses various aspects of race, including identity, culture, and the intersection of ethnicity and nationality. Kendi challenges readers to move beyond passive opposition to racism and actively engage in dismantling the systems that sustain racial discrimination. It is a call to action for social change.

If you've been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD), or suspect that you might have it, you should know that not everyone experiences the condition in the same way. BPD actually manifests on a spectrum, and while some people may encounter extreme symptoms and consequences on one end, others may be less affected on the other. In addition, if you're struggling with other conditions—such as bipolar disorder, depression, psychotic symptoms, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)—you may have complex BPD (C-BPD), and may benefit from expanding your knowledge and building your skills, so you can seek out a symptom management plan that is tailored to your unique needs.

In Complex Borderline Personality Disorder, psychologist and BPD expert Daniel J. Fox offers a new understanding and awareness of the complexity of BPD, and helps you lay the groundwork needed to manage your symptoms more effectively. You'll find checklists of specific symptoms to help you identify coexisting conditions related to BPD. And with this guide, you'll feel more empowered to move forward in your life with all the knowledge, skills, and abilities you've learned.

It Never Ends With Us is a profound exploration of love, trauma, and the illusion of closure. Where most stories stop at survival, this one begins — tracing the invisible echoes of abuse and the emotional residue that lingers long after the last goodbye. Through the lens of modern romance and cultural myth, it questions whether cycles of pain can truly be broken, or if they only transform, adapting to new forms and faces. With philosophical depth and psychological realism, it exposes how society markets empowerment while misunderstanding healing, and how the desire for neat endings betrays the complexity of recovery. This is not a story about endings — it’s a meditation on what remains when the story refuses to end.

In this milestone book, a previous examiner, legitimate master, and driving expert on sexual viciousness looks at why we are prepared to distrust charges of sexual maltreatment — and how we can change a culture and a general set of laws organized to excuse informers
Sexual offense allegations flash contending claims: her statement against his. How would we conclude who is coming clean? The response comes down to believability. However, as this enlightening book uncovers, imperceptible powers twist the validity decisions of even the benevolent among us. We are undeniably molded by a bunch of misleading suppositions and secret predispositions implanted in our way of life, our overall set of laws, and our minds.
In Tenable, the creator gives a genuinely necessary system to make sense of how we see validity, why our discernments are contorted, and why these twists hurt survivors. Social orders and disparities cultivate question that is typical and unsurprising, bringing about what the creator calls the "validity markdown" — our excusal of cases by particular sorts of speakers — basically ladies, and particularly the individuals who are more minimized.

We live in an age uniquely attentive to the problem of mental illness. More than half of us will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in our lifetime. It has been easy, for centuries, to relegate persistent emotional and mental struggles entirely to the realm of a failed personal work ethic ("Just don't worry so much!"), not enough faith ("Just pray harder!"), or, in recent years, a chemical imbalance in our brains ("Just take this pill!"). Yet, for those of us who live with mental illness, none of these suggestions provides the quick relief it promises, and the continued struggle takes its toll on our already burdened hearts and minds.

In All Who Are Weary, Emmy Kegler joins the listener on the long walk of reflection, understanding, and compassion, calling followers of Jesus back to ancient practices of lament, vulnerability, honesty, community, and hope. This book is not a map to a cure, nor a perfectly restorative prayer. Written with a wide community in mind—patients, but also parents and partners, coworkers and friends, pastors and therapists, and the whole church—All Who Are Weary points to the embodied grace known in Jesus, trusting in the promise of a lighter load for all.
