Sinopsis

In 'The Life of Lord Byron,' John Galt presents a detailed and insightful biography that meticulously explores the complex character and tumultuous life of one of the English Romantic period's most enigmatic figures. Galt employs a narrative style that combines vivid storytelling with thoughtful analysis, weaving personal anecdotes and societal commentary throughout his examination of Byron's relationships, literary achievements, and the controversies that often surrounded him. This work not only illuminates Byron's poetic genius but also situates it within the broader cultural context of 19th-century England, revealing the interplay between the artist and the avant-garde movements of his time. John Galt, a contemporary of Byron, was an accomplished novelist and biographer whose own experiences in Scotland and London undoubtedly informed his perspective on his subject. Having witnessed the literary scene that Byron influenced, Galt's nuanced understanding of the Romantic ethos and its discontents is evident throughout the text. Galt's respect and admiration for Byron stem from their shared backgrounds and the literary circles they both navigated, imbuing the biography with authenticity and depth. For readers seeking to understand the life and legacy of Lord Byron through the lens of an insightful scholar who was both a contemporary and a keen observer, Galt's biography is essential. This work not only enriches our understanding of Byron as a poet and public figure but also sheds light on the Romantic era itself, making it a compelling read for anyone interested in literature and history.

Jenny Boyd's extraordinary life is the stuff of movies and novels, a story of incredible people and places experienced at a pivotal time in the 20th century.
As an up-and-coming young model, Jenny found herself at the heart of Carnaby Street in London, immersed in the fashion and pop culture of the Swinging 60s. With boyfriend Mick Fleetwood, sister Pattie, George Harrison and the rest of the Beatles, she lived the London scene. But as a natural Flower Child, Jenny soon became part of the counter-culture in San Francisco during the Flower Power era, witnessing the Summer of Love; she was the inspiration for Donovan's famous song, Jennifer Juniper, and her photograph was featured inside the box set of his eponymous album A Gift from a Flower to a Garden.
After working in The Beatles shop, Apple, the first of its kind, Jenny attended Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in India to study meditation with her sister and the Beatles, witnessing their creativity and the genesis of songs that would later appear on the White Album.
Despite being attuned to the spiritual bloom and innocence of the 60s, Jenny also experienced first-hand the turmoil and decadence of the 70s and 80s. Her two marriages to Mick Fleetwood, founder member of Fleetwood Mac, brought her to the forefront of the world of rock and roll - and its fame, money, drugs and heartache. Struggling in the darkness to find and develop her own voice and identity, Jenny went to college, achieving a Masters in Counseling Psychology and a PhD in Humanities - her dissertation on musicians and creativity became the critically-acclaimed book Musicians in Tune.
Jenny has spent her life in the company of some of the greatest musical and cultural influencers of the last 50 years - and the journey she takes to finding her own sense of self and creative ability makes Jennifer Juniper a truly captivating and inspiring story.

“The beautifully poignant story of a partner, mother, friend, and truly inspirational woman.” MICK FLEETWOOD, FLEETWOOD MAC

People have been enchanted by elephants for centuries. For Gerry Creighton, this fascination began at an early age. His father was a keeper at Dublin Zoo, and he instilled in Gerry a love and respect for animals. It wasn't long before Gerry followed in his footsteps, joining the zoo at 15, where he would spend the next 36 years.
Joyful and life-affirming, Raised by the Zoo is the story of a life spent in service to elephants, and how by watching and listening to them – how they interact and care for each other, form relationships and teach the next generation – they can show us what it really means to be human.

Burnt out and questioning life Naomi was ready for a change. Unsure of which option to take, she would end up cycling the world with a man she’d met just three times in the adventure of a lifetime. Riding through tiger reserves, cycling Cairo to Capetown and crossing the 5,416m high Thorong-la pass in Nepal this book is full of tales of adventure.
With early school reports noting Naomi would be better at sport if she at least turned up, this is not an athlete’s journey but the story of an ordinary person with a great opportunity and a can-do attitude. Set against a background of the joy of riding a bike, the journey recounted, and reflections provided on coming home it offers a story of determination, overcoming challenges, making the most of life and of course of travel, cycling and relationships.
Quote from Mark Beaumont – Long distance cyclist, broadcaster and author.
‘A wonderful perspective to discover the world and a lovingly written account of overcoming setbacks, the spirit of wanderlust and refusing to become an athlete, despite cycling a very, very long way’.
Whether a keen cyclist, traveller or someone who just loves an inspirational read then this book is for you.
