Synopsis

An amateur sleuth hunts for dirt on a murder and three missing maids in this classic English mystery by the author of the Department Z series.

When not working at MI5, Patrick Dawlish frequently collaborates with the police to catch murderous criminals. Of course, many of the police, in turn, like to remind Dawlish that he isn’t one of them and he should keep his feet out of the murky waters of crime. Dawlish is all too happy to oblige, but Superintendent Trivett of Scotland Yard needs his help . . .

Housekeepers are disappearing in the isolated town of Terne. Three to be precise—all young women and all employed by the same man. Mr. Clive Dickerson is suspiciously aloof about the matter, especially after a woman wearing the clothes of one of the missing is found dead in a river. To determine what is going on—and locate the remaining women—Dawlish must first find someone willing to go undercover and infiltrate Dickerson’s mansion. But who could be so daring? Or so foolish?

'One day, I should like my epitaph to read, "Here lies Arsène Lupin, adventurer".'

The famed hero-thief masterfully created by Maurice Leblanc, Arsène Lupin, is back for another remarkable tale – one which revolves around crime, inheritance and a murky international conspiracy – and it's more suspenseful and shocking than ever.

When Cosmo Mornington, a wealthy American, is pronounced dead, a large inheritance is up for grabs. He leaves his fortune to any living heir, leaving his good friend Don Luis Perenna in charge of finding them. But when Mornington's relatives start to mysteriously vanish or die, suspicion begins to fall on Don Luis. Lupin, disguised as Mornington's close acquaintance, sets out to unveil the truth behind the disappearances, and is led to a series of sinister crimes linked to a secret organisation called, 'The Teeth of the Tiger'. Action packed and intricately constructed, The Teeth of the Tiger cements Lupin as a true master of disguise, and Maurice Leblanc as a masterful writer of mystery. This audiobook edition is skilfully read by Rupert Degas.
Maurice Leblanc (1864 – 1941) was a French journalist, novelist and short story writer. He was primarily known for inventing the fictional thief Arsène Lupin, often considered the French counterpart to Sherlock Holmes.

When the story begins, we meet the White family - an older couple and their adult son - who are given a strange and mysterious talisman: the eponymous dried monkey's paw that is said to grant the owner three wishes. The bearer of this strange token warns the couple that while the magic does work...it is not without dire and unthinkable consequences.
"The Monkey's Paw" is presented here in its original and unabridged format as narrated by renowned audiobook performers Brian J. Gill, Sara Nichols and Kevin Theis.

Big-band frontman Johnny Favorite was singing for the troops when a Luftwaffe fighter squadron strafed the bandstand, killing the crowd and leaving the singer near death. The army returned him to a private hospital in upstate New York, leaving him to live out his days as a vegetable while the world forgot him. But Louis Cyphre never forgets. Cyphre had a contract with the singer, stipulating payment upon Johnny's death—payment that will be denied as long as Johnny clings to life. When Cyphre hires private investigator Harry Angel to find Johnny at the hospital, Angel learns that the singer has disappeared. It is no ordinary missing-person's case. Everyone he questions dies soon after, as Angel's investigation ensnares him in a bizarre tangle of black magic, carnival freaks, and grisly voodoo. When the sinister Louis Cyphre begins appearing in Angel's dreams, the detective fears for his life, his sanity, and his soul.
