A Scottish saga of grit and determination from Sunday Times betselling author Evelyn Hood
Will holding on to the business she has inherited mean a future without love?
    Port Glasgow, Scotland 1930
Morag Weir’s young life is full of responsibilities: caring for the ailing Sander Weir, the man who has raised her as his daughter; whilst managing his household and shipping business.
When Sander Weir dies, his brother Lawrence is outraged to learn that Morag will inherit Sander’s large home as well as a controlling interest in his shipping firm.
Complicating matters, Lawrence is Morag’s real father – having abandoned her when he remarried when Morag was six years old. Despite his past fickleness, Lawrence feels he has the right to control Morag’s new-found wealth.
As the business flounders, Morag must fight and find the courage to defy Lawrence and resist his efforts to overturn his brother’s will and also wrestle control from the unscrupulous men who wish to take the business from her.
While everyone around her is finding love, the man Morag has fallen for seems to want nothing more than a professional relationship.
Can hard work prevail and will Morag find a balance at work and with her love life?

From the ashes of the Vietnam War, Sam's life takes an unexpected turn when she's adopted by an American soldier and his wife, who whisk her away to the bustling streets of Brooklyn. Yet, even amidst the vibrant tapestry of New York City, Sam grapples with a lingering question: Who is she really?
After college, Sam's quest for identity leads her to the enchanting city of Paris, where she immerses herself in the struggles of others to evade confronting her own. As a photojournalist, she spends two decades capturing the darkest moments of twenty-first-century humanity. But when she loses her adoptive mother, the pangs of loneliness drive her back to Cambodia, her birthplace.
In the heart of Cambodia, Sam embarks on a soul-searching journey, unearthing layers of her identity hidden beneath the smiles and silences of her homeland. Guided by a mysterious companion, Sam ventures into the forgotten ruins of Banteay Chhmar—a thirteenth-century temple and city that holds the key to her ancestral history.
Amidst the lush jungles and silt-laden waters of Asia, Sam discovers that her roots run deeper than she ever imagined. Each revelation unravels a tapestry of love, sorrow, faith, and truth, woven into a family tree stretching back to the golden age of the Khmer Empire. There is something about the number 3.

The Ancient Greeks believed 3 was the perfect number, and in China 3 has always been a lucky number, and they know a thing or two.

Most religions also have 3 this and 3 that and, of course, in these more modern times, three’s a crowd may be too many, except when it’s a ménage à trois. It seems good things usually come in threes.

Whatever history and culture says WE think 3, a hat-trick of stories, is a great number to explore themes and literary avenues that classic authors were so adept at creating.
