Beschreibung

In 8th century Mercia, King Offa lusts for power. His queen, Cynethryth, is an ambitious politician minting her own coins – a first for any woman in the male-dominated era.

Amid societal changes, the two navigate power struggles, revolts and alliances in the tumultuous Anglo-Saxon Britain, leaving their mark during a pivotal time in English history.

But where is Offa's place among the English kings, and who is the real force in his reign? There is little concrete evidence, but in OFFA - REX MERCIORUM, John Broughton breaks through the veil of time and provides an entertaining, well-researched historical tale.

*This is a Duet Novel—two novellas in one book Two Spicy Stories in one book. In Having the Dae’mon’s Baby, Ketha decides to skip the Contraception Center and get pregnant the old fashioned way—by letting her new Kindred Bodyslave penetrate her. But will she get more than she bargained for? In Her Kindred Dom, Addison decides she wants her stern Kindred boss as her Daddy Dom, but will the big Beast Kindred give her more than she can handle? Find out when you read, Dae’mons and Doms, the latest Kindred Tales book Book 1—Having the Dae’mon’s Baby Ketha has a dull, dissatisfying life and to make matters worse, her mother is pressuring her to have a baby to carry on their family dynasty. Ketha doesn’t feel ready for the responsibility…until her mother buys a male bodyslave to serve them--a Dae’mon Kindred. Huge and muscular with curving horns, he’s like nothing Ketha has ever seen before…she feels immediately drawn to him and decides to use him for her own ends. Her mother wants her to have a baby? Fine—but she’s not going to the Conception Center to have artificial insemination. Instead, she wants to get pregnant in the most forbidden way possible—by letting a male penetrate her. But can Ketha give her body without giving her heart? You’ll have to read Having the Dae’mon’s Baby to find out… *TROPES--Primal Need, Br33ding, Enemies to Lovers Book 2—Her Kindred Dom Addison Davis has a crush on her boss, Commander Courick, the huge Beast Kindred who runs the HKR building in downtown Tampa. She’s sure he would make the perfect Dom—unfortunately, he never seems to notice him, no matter what outrageous stunts she pulls. So she has to get her needs met at a BDSM club called The Torture Palace. But when an encounter at the club goes too far and leaves Addison with visible marks on her bottom, Courick finally notices. Angry and protective, he follows her to The Torture Palace to find out who hurt her…only to find out her secret. Addison is a little and she’s not just looking for a Dom—she wants a Daddy Dom. Can Courick handle his curvy assistant’s proclivities and meet her needs or will the vow he took never to call a bride come between them? You’ll have to read Her Kindred Dom to find out. TROPES--Office Romance, DD/lg, Who Did This To You? Author’s Note: This second story in this book, Her Kindred Dom, is BDSM and contains some very mild Age Play. (The heroine calls the hero “Daddy” several times but mostly she calls him “Sir.”) I have been wanting to write a Kindred Age Play novel for some time, but I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. However, even if you don’t usually like Age Play, I would ask that you give it a chance. It is, as I said, very mild and I think you’ll enjoy it even if this topic isn’t usually your thing. If you’ve seen the movie “Secretary” most of the story is along those lines. Hugs and thanks for reading, Evangeline

It isn't easy being the Grim Reaper.
For millennia, Death watched over the fleeting lives of mortals, claiming their souls as is her duty. Each year, the story was the same. Humans wasted the gifts they were given, allowing the precious sands of time to slip through their grasp. But, who did they blame? Not themselves, of course, but the horseman who came to collect her due.
Such an existence grew tiresome for the creature. Bored of humanity’s antics, the reaper opened a quiet apothecary and began peddling her curious wares. Her little shop became an escape from their ire, a distraction to pass the decades.
Over time, the mortals let down their guards, but the horseman never did. Now and then, she changed the rules of the game, reminding humans of one very important thing…
Death is inevitable. There is no escape. For in the end, there is no way out of the graves they’ve dug for themselves. When the tides turn, no plea or bargain will change their fates.
Author's Note:This compilation of short stories contains five previously published tales in the Apothecary of Curiosities series, as well as an exclusive bonus story not available anywhere else: "Death's Nell," "Kiss of Death," "Deadly Delicacies," "Everything Dies," "Death Waits For No One" (Exclusive), and "Death Warmed Over." Desperate to avoid being trapped into marriage by the lovely but scheming Lady Charlotte Denington, the handsome young Duke of Ingleby is relieved to be sent on a special secret mission for the Viceroy of India, Lord Curzon.

He is to find and if he is in time to save an ancient Buddhist Temple on the island of Java from desecration and looting by the Dutch who are the Rulers of the country at the time.

Travelling incognito and posing as an English tourist keen to photograph the delightful scenery of Java, the Duke unexpectedly meets a beautiful and ethereal young woman called ‘Sarida’ at the Temple’s portal.

Although clearly English, Sarida bears this Javanese name and is attuned to Javanese culture. Indeed she believes fervently in the Buddha.

The Duke is entranced and then enthralled when he discovers that he and she bear an uncanny resemblance to the sculpted portrayals of a Javanese King and Princess in the depths of the Temple.

It is as if they have been together and loved each other in another life. Even without speaking they both understand that this is what the Buddhists have always called The Wheel of Rebirth.

And, as together they face terrible danger, it is immediately obvious that the attraction between them is too powerful to resist.

It is all an essential part of the Divine power of the Temple of Love

June McClunaghan, a luckless waitress and ex-flight attendant, ends up in Seattle in the early 1990s after a life of post-Joycean, Cubs-style defeat, and learns to play bass guitar at the height of that good ol’ coffee-swilling “Grunge Mania.” She loves coffee, hates grunge, so she and her friend Dedra Fatiuchka try to start a trashy garage band instead. No dice. But…
…Dedra, a talented singer and computer geek who is disillusioned with the digital revolution, pranks together an impressively bogus press kit for the band and, in conspiracy with a studio-geek friend, her voice is overdubbed onto the dead tracks of a defunct band (that couldn’t pay their studio bill) and presto! A demo tape! No one the wiser, the whole shebang is sent to the offices of South By SouthWest in Austin, TX as a joke. SXSW, however, respond by offering the band—which doesn’t exist—a high profile showcase at the 1994 edition of the great, ballyhooed music conference. With the help of two guy friends, a guitarist and a drummer, they manage to slap together a functional combo and then embark to the big event only to lose their showcase by running afoul of one of the head festival honchos who pointedly yanks the rug from under them. But…
…another disappointment in June’s doggedly optimistic life, they begin the long trek back to Seattle. When inclement weather forces them off the road, June gets caught in a flash flood incident that leaves her stranded and injured in the middle of nowhere. Rescued by a mysterious hot-rodder, she is thrust into yet another post-Joycean world with even more surreal elements. Here she begins to sense that this strange but benevolent character may actually be the fabled “Seattle Capper” himself—the unseen phantom responsible for a history of distributor cap thefts—and the same one who stole their cap in Arizona while the band was enroute to Austin.
A work of lofty, improbable thoughts, "Decline and Fall of Alternative Civilization" is literary fiction that may appeal to misguided men, unsettled women, disgruntled music enthusiasts and anyone fond of examining the strings from which physicists' yoyos spin.
