Beschreibung

The Collected Works of Goethe encompasses the vast literary contributions of one of the most significant figures of German literature, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Spanning poetry, drama, and prose, this collection reveals Goethe's mastery of form and language, reflecting the complexities of the human condition. His works are imbued with the Romantic ideals of individuality and nature, often intertwining philosophical thought within narratives that illuminate the struggles of the soul. Goethe's lyrical genius is showcased in such masterpieces as "Faust" and "The Sorrows of Young Werther," offering readers a rich tapestry of emotional and intellectual exploration that defines the Sturm und Drang and Weimar Classicism movements. Goethe, born in 1749 in Frankfurt, was not only a playwright and poet but also a scientist and statesman, reflecting the Enlightenment's spirit of inquiry and human potential. His multifaceted interests and extensive travels throughout Europe profoundly influenced his writing. Engaging with the philosophical currents of his time, including Idealism, Goethe sought to capture the essence of humanity, resulting in profound stylistic innovations that shatter conventional literary boundaries. This collection is essential for those seeking to delve into the foundations of modern literature and philosophy. Goethe's works challenge, inspire, and provoke reflection, making them timeless pieces that resonate with contemporary readers. Whether a newcomer or a seasoned scholar, one will find in Goethe's writings a profound exploration of life, love, and existential inquiry.

Vibrant, moving and diverse stories of shape-shifting between cultures.

'To be Indian growing up in Australia is to tread the narrow line between here and there, to constantly code-switch and navigate between filling the needs and aspirations of your family, your community – and yourself.'

'Indian-Australian' is not a one-size-fits-all descriptor. Given the depth and richness of diversity of the Indian subcontinent, it is fitting that its diaspora is similarly varied.

Growing Up Indian in Australia reflects and celebrates this vibrant diversity. It features contributions from Australian-Indian writers, both established and emerging, who hail from a wide range of backgrounds, religions and experiences. This colourful, energetic anthology offers reflections on identity, culture, family, food and expectations, ultimately revealing deep truths about both Australian and Indian life.
