Spotlighting one of today's most talked about and successful musicians, this unauthorized biography showcases the Grammy-nominated talent of hip-hop artist Aubrey Graham, aka Drake. The account reveals the entertainer as a triple threat: a rapper, a singer, and an actor whose journey to fame has been nothing short of atypical. From his debut going double platinum and selling millions of copies in the United States alone to topping the Billboard 200 charts and spawning numerous hits, this chronicle reviews Drake's numerous achievements, including the record-breaking digital popularity of his sophomore release. The celebrity's acting career is also touched upon, detailing how he is already being touted as the next Will Smith — another respectable rapper and an award-winning actor — after starring in nine seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation, one of the most consistently watched drama series for teens in North America. Conducting a journey through the life of a 25-year-old wonder, the book travels from Drake's childhood in Toronto to his emergence as an unlikely global pop culture hero — breaking all of the music industry and societal clichês in the process — illustrating what makes this modern-day Renaissance man tick.

Sesame Street Around the World -...

Given the sometimes extraordinary politicization of culture, it is surprising that Sesame Street has gained acceptance and legitimacy in more than fifty countries. Sesame Street's global success raises two questions. First, how does a US icon like Sesame Street spread around the world, gaining acceptance as a local cultural product? Second, how does the nonprofit that created it, Sesame Workshop, and its partners around the world navigate cultural differences, manage conflicts, and construct shared collective representations to create Sesame Street programs that resonate with local audiences?
Tamara Kay answers these questions using data from seven years of ethnographic fieldwork and 200 in-depth interviews with Sesame Workshop staff and international partners from seventeen countries. Kay argues that Sesame Workshop's secret is its engagement in coproduction, meaning it works with partners as a transnational team to create local Sesame Street programs.  She traces the processes of coproduction, beginning with the imagination of the cultural product, to its disassembly, reconstitution, and dissemination.

The Sesame Street case grapples with and illuminates culture in transnational interaction, providing insight into a range of other transnational organizational partnerships and different kinds of hybrid cultural products.

The Zen of Art starts with the premise that making art is akin to what happens when wind engages with a set of chimes. The chance encounter of source and instrument generates a song that enriches and elevates the moment. Author and artist Carolyn Schlam draws a parallel with what she calls the "Zen of Art"-the process of allowing creative expression to manifest in a natural and unencumbered fashion. Schlam tells her personal story of making art while applying the knowledge she has gained to live an "artful life" in chapters on courage, joy, beauty, love, and more. Whether practicing artists or not, readers will be encouraged to examine their own lives in the context of her insights. There is much to ponder and savor in this beautifully written, wise, and warm account of a life filled with art. The Zen of Art is a book to treasure as it paints a pathway to being your best self and living your best life.
