Synopsis

Philo lived in Alexandria between the end of the first century BC and the middle of the first century AD. He left many writings. He is famous for his teachings on the logos, so close to the New Testament doctrine of John and Paul, to inevitably give rise to questions about the nature of such similarities.
I read “Philo and the New Testament” by John Watson many years ago and found it very interesting, precious to introduce to Philo’s thought.
Contributions like Philo’s to human knowledge cannot be lost. So, it is indeed a privilege to present this writing to today’s students.
I am sure the reader will find valuable the addition to this text of the treatise On the Creation presented in English and in the Greek in order for the student to be able to enjoy Philo’s writing and have access to the original terminology which is so important to investigate in certain passages.

Help when your child or unborn baby is seriously ill and you don’t know what to pray. When your child or unborn baby is facing serious medical problems, it can be hard to know what to pray. The shock, uncertainty, and fear can mean that even though you want to cry out to God in prayer, your words just dry up. That’s where this book can help, with prayers that use Scripture to help you communicate with the Lord. Whether you need to cry out honestly to the Lord in grief, to pray boldly for healing and help, or simply to process what is happening, you'll find words to help you talk with the God who loves you and weeps with you—the God who can do all things. Authors Eric Schumacher and Jessika Sanders both know what it’s like to face a family medical crisis, and they are passionate about helping others in the most difficult situations. Eric is the author of Ours: Biblical Comfort for Men Grieving Miscarriage. He is on the Board of Directors for Walk With You, a bereavement counseling organization. Jessika is the founder and president of Praying Through Ministries, which provides support for parents whose children have been hospitalized and families who have experienced child loss. This easy-to-navigate book includes prayers for a clear diagnosis; prayers for healing; prayers for comfort and relief from pain; prayers for peace, courage, perseverance, and wisdom to cope well; prayers for unity; for the extended family; for the medical team; for practical needs; for times of spiritual darkness and doubt; and much more. This book is designed to help both parents and the wider family turn to God for help when a child is facing a medical crisis.

Since the late 1970s, there has been a spread of Islamic fundamentalism or Islamist ideology promoted and sponsored by Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states. More than a billion people are following the religion of Islam worldwide. Islamic fundamentalism or Islamism has helped radicalise a small portion of the Muslim population in every region, and a smaller subset has joined terrorist groups and engaged in acts of terror. Yet the Church of Christ must take the gospel to these people in obedience to the Great Commission of Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:18-20.
Today, most people actually know very little about Islam and its extreme cultural threat to everything they hold to be good and right and true. The conflict between Islamism and the rest of the world will continue to dominate headlines, define foreign policies and give new urgency to the mission of the Church of Christ. But there is lack of knowledge. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
It is for that reason this book is beaming light on darkness, which is ignorance of the battle for the soul of Africa and indeed, the world. It presents ideas, history, and desires of Islam through the lens of a biblical worldview perspective. It is to equip ordinary Christians from all walks of life to minister scripturally and wisely in a world where the conflict between Islam and civilisation is all too obvious.

From sheepdogs to wombats to coyotes to jellyfish, animals serve important biological roles in the world. But those who love animals know there's more. We know our connection to other creatures is more than fur, scale, or feather deep.

In Saints of Feather and Fang, writer and lifelong animal lover Caryn Rivadeneira looks at the ways that animals—from the pets who share our homes to the mysterious creatures of the deep—serve as spiritual guides for our hearts, minds, and souls.

Christian scripture teems with mammals, birds, and reptiles, and research on animals' sensory responses suggests that we not only care for our beloved animals but they, at times, care for us. A therapy pony who visits stroke victims, a rescued pit bull who shows restraint, hedgehogs that scurry down highways made just for them: these stories offer entrée to tender, whimsical, and deeply theological reflection on creaturely delight, instinct, curiosity, adaptation, fear, and awe. In them we discover and connect with the God who beckons, rescues, and shelters us with stretched-out wings.
