Synopsis

'Spookily spellbinding - gripped me with an icy finger from the first page' - Catherine Bruton
Don't open the box, warned the old man.
But Charlie can't help himself...
Fourteen-year-old London schoolboy Charlie has been looking forward to playing football with his mates in the Christmas holidays. Instead, he is packed off to the wilds of the East Anglian coast to stay with an uncle he barely knows.
It's going to be a tough week. Uncle Patrick's ramshackle house doesn't have wi-fi, his daughter Ariel seems determined to be vile – and who are the mysterious children laughing after dark in the empty bedroom next to Charlie's?
When Charlie finds an ancient brass box buried on the beach, he unleashes a chilling sequence of events. At least these bring him and his grumpy cousin together, as the pair battle to solve the mystery of the 'box of souls' and re-capture the violent ghostly presence wreaking havoc around the town.
A stirring spine-chiller, Ghost Tide is a spooky, unforgettable tale of restless spirits and youthful heroism.

The Beachcomber by Damon Knight - Alice saw the Beachcomber as a glorious hunk of man; Maxwell saw him as a super being from the future. Tragically, he was both!...
Maxwell and the girl started their weekend on Thursday, in Venice. Friday they went to Paris, Saturday to Nice, and on Sunday they were bored. Alice pouted at him across the breakfast table. "Vernon, let's go someplace else," she said.
"Sure," said Maxwell, not too graciously. "Don't you want your bug eggs?"
Alice pushed them away. "If I ever did, I don't now. Why do you have to be so unpleasant in the morning?"
The eggs were insect eggs, all right, but they were on the menu as oeufs Procyon Thibault, and three of the half-inch brown spheres cost about one thousand times their value in calories. Maxwell was well paid as a script-writer for the North American Unit Ministry of Information—he bossed a gang of six gagmen on the Cosmic Cocktail show—but he was beginning to hate to think about what these five days were costing him.
"Where do you want to go?" asked Maxwell. Their coffee came out of the conveyer, steaming and fragrant, and he sipped his moodily. "Want to run over to Algiers? Or up to Stockholm?"
"No," said Alice. She leaned forward across the table and put up one long white hand to keep her honey-colored hair out of her eyes. "You don't know what I mean. I mean, let's go to some other planet."
Maxwell choked slightly and spilled coffee on the tabletop. "Europe is all right," Alice was saying with disdain, "but it's all getting to be just like Chicago. Let's go someplace different for once."
"And be back by tomorrow noon?" Maxwell demanded. "It's ten hours even to Proxima; we'd have just time to turn around and get back on the liner."

WOMEN SPACE PIONEERS is a profile of the lives and experiences of the first eight women astronauts in the U.S. space program when they all became astronauts, and their impact on the future of women's participation in space exploration. What makes this audiobook absolutely UNIQUE is that seven of these astronauts were personally interviewed and their unfiltered and uncensored interviewed memories of their trials and tributlations of that era is presented here in their own words - Dr. Sally Ride, Dr. Kathy Sullivan, Dr. Anna Fisher, Dr. Rhea Seddon, Dr. Shannon Lucid, Dr. Bonnie Dunbar, and Dr. Mary Cleave. In addition, interviews were also conducted and included here of some of the men who also flew with these women (Admiral TK Mattingly & Capt. Dave Walker), along with some of the top NASA officials of those days at the Johnson Space Center (Dr. Carolyn Huntoon & George Abbey). There's also 3 songs by the noted singer, Jae Cie, who produced them as a tribute to their pioneering spirit. This audiobook's introduction and epilogue are presented by NICHELLE NICHOLS, who portrayed the first woman astronaut on TV as communication officer Lt. Uhura in the original Star Trek TV series, and was an active recruiter of these women for NASA.
