Ralph Rover is happily at home from his adventure on The Coral Island and wondering if he should settle down when he receives a visit from an eccentric stranger that won't give his name. This visit starts him on a string of adventures that find him getting charged by rhinoceroses, chased by African natives, and facing down a larger-than-life gorilla on his own. Of course, this is only the start of his adventure in to the land of the gorillas. Please note: this book has some words now considered derogatory, which are used in a generic way without any derogatory meaning. At the time the book was written, these words were normal language. I have endeavored to read them as such--words that were perfectly suitable in the context of their day. The many adventures of Professor Craig Kennedy were chronicled by Arthur B. Reeve (October 15, 1880 - August 9, 1936). Reeve was an American mystery writer who created 82 Craig Kennedy mystery stories. The stories have a very Sherlock Holmes type feel, In fact Kennedy has been referred to as the "American Shelock Holmes". Along with his reporter friend, Walter Jameson, Kennedy solves many crimes and unveils mysteries using science. This book contains twelve of Professor Kennedy's adventures. The interesting thing about these stories is Kennedy uses newly discovered science from his time period, which we take for granted today. The first story, The Silent Bullet, has everyone wondering how a bullet could kill someone with no noise. Today, silencers on guns are commonplace in movies and on TV. Or as in "The Deadly Tube" featuring the story of a doctor causing his patients much harm with evil x-rays, or the developmnt of the gyroscope for aeroplanes in "The Terror in the Air". Each story features a facinating look at life in the early 20th century, and even includes some action along the way.

Emily Johnson thought she had learned how to live without feeling too much. Silence became her comfort, distance became her safety, and the past was something carefully sealed away, untouched and unnamed. Until one night, she follows a quiet restlessness into a place that should not exist—a hidden library where stories are not read but lived, and where every book holds a feeling someone once tried to forget. Inside, emotions are no longer distant memories; they are immediate, raw, and impossible to ignore. A heartbreak that isn’t hers yet feels like it is, a longing that refuses to fade, and a truth she can no longer escape begin to reshape everything she thought she understood about herself.
As Emily goes deeper, the line between who she is and what she feels starts to blur, pulling her into experiences that feel more real than her own life. But the deeper she goes, the more dangerous it becomes, because some feelings are not meant to be revisited, and some stories don’t let you leave once you’ve stepped inside. This is a hauntingly romantic psychological journey where pain becomes connection, where vulnerability becomes strength, and where love might be the only way back.
🎧 Press play and let yourself feel what she tried so hard to forget.

As compelling as fiction, The Mystery of Beautiful Nell Cropsey tells the dramatic story of the disappearance of nineteen-year-old Nell Cropsey from her riverside home in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, in November 1901. Bloodhounds, detectives, divers, and even a psychic were brought in to search for her, and the case immediately became a national sensation. Bland Simpson, who first heard the tale as an Elizabeth City schoolboy, weaves this true story into a colorful nonfiction account, told in three first-person voices: Nell’s sister Ollie; famous newspaper editor W. O. Saunders, who covered the case as a young reporter; and Jim Wilcox, Nell’s beau, who was implicated in the case. Nell and Jim’s romance, her disappearance, the great search, the trials, and their aftermath are artfully reconstructed from interviews, court records, and newspaper accounts.
