Synopsis

This edition is accompagned by 34unpublished illustrations.
The novel, narrated by Englishman J., tells of a boat trip along the Thames, with his friends George and William Samuel Harris. The three, together with the dog Montmorency, travel for days, they cross the English countryside and live unexpected and amusing adventures. The trip is dotted with a series of comic gags on the joys and pains of life on the boat, combined with funny digressions that invent stories in their own right, in the best style of English humor. All this seasoned with realistic descriptions of the regions crossed by the three friends and brief notations of philosophy for the non-professionals.

Mort Sahl has been described as one of the greatest political and social satirists of the 20th century. In Mort Sahl's America, the sophisticated political satirist exposes the grand follies of the powers that be. Deflating celebrity pretensions, he skewers liberals and conservatives alike. From Bill Clinton to Bob Dole, from Al Gore to Jesse Jackson, no one is spared. He talks of his frustrated relationships with liberated women and shares his thoughts on gay marriage and Catholic priests. As an added bonus, Sahl shares the stage with Senator Eugene McCarthy, whose bid for the 1968 US presidency ran on a platform which opposed the Vietnam War. McCarthy offers wry reflections on Lyndon Johnson's eccentric behavior and shrewd commentary on Robert McNamara.

For an actor who’s been in so many mega-hits and equally mega misses, it can be tough to track Keanu Reeves's accomplishments. But true fans know that Keanu is so much more than his Bill and Ted persona, both onscreen and off. During his long career—over thirty years, although you wouldn’t know it from his immortal looks—he has constantly subverted Hollywood stereotypes and expectations. He's the type to start his own publishing company, reread Hamlet, write a grown-up children’s book, photobomb people’s weddings, eat lunch alone in the park while looking very sad, and give away his salary to the film crew. For Your Consideration: Keanu Reeves examines the ways in which Keanu strives to be kind and excellent in work and in life. The authors also explore various Internet conspiracies about his age, help you identify which Sad Keanu meme you are, give you the Keanu and Winona Ryder fanfic your heart desires, and much, much more.
