Synopsis

Ruth has lived at Netherburn, her home in the remote moors of Scotland, ever since she was a small child. It's a home with a history, and, having seen her own children grow up and move on, Ruth is trying to make sense of it all. From her Father's death, to her ex-husband leaving and her lack of contact with her sons. But she's not alone with her thoughts: her empty house has become lively once again as various people - with equally complicated pasts - come to lodge at Netherburn, and Ruth finds herself helping them through their pain; some of which won't stay in the past. Forgive is the story of Ruth, and those living at Netherburn, as they live their lives and try to move on. But the question always looms for Ruth, what does it mean to forgive?

    Transformation - A Monster Took...

    Mary Shelley

Transformation is a Gothic short story by Mary Shelley that explores pride, temptation, and the dangerous bargains people make with themselves. It follows Guido, a young man undone by arrogance, who encounters a grotesque dwarf offering him a terrible trade — one that will give him power and revenge at the cost of his very identity. The tale blends moral fable with supernatural unease, showing how a single reckless choice can unmake a life. Shelley uses atmosphere, confession, and shifting identity rather than overt horror, creating a story that feels more like a warning whispered from experience.
Though brief, Transformation carries the same concerns that run through Shelley’s larger work: the fragility of the self, the consequences of unchecked impulses, and the thin line between the human and the monstrous. Its power comes not from shock but from recognition — the sense that Guido’s downfall begins inside him, long before the supernatural enters the room.
Mary Shelley (1797–1851) was an English novelist and essayist best known as the author of Frankenstein, a book that helped shape both science fiction and modern horror. The daughter of philosophers Mary Wollstonecraft and William Godwin, she grew up among writers and radicals, later traveling through Europe with the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Across her novels, short stories, and journals, she explored grief, ambition, invention, and moral responsibility. Works like The Last Man, Mathilda, and Transformation show the breadth of her voice beyond Frankenstein. Shelley wrote in a time when women authors were often dismissed, yet her ideas outlived the age that doubted her. Today she is regarded as one of the foundational figures of speculative literature.

For fans of Denis Johnson and Ocean Vuong: A captivating, searing, and ultimately redemptive debut novel about coming of age on Florida’s drug-riddled Gulf Coast and the enigmatic connection between memory and self.
David has a mind that never stops running. He reads Dante and Moby Dick, he sinks into Hemingway and battles with Milton. But on Florida’s Gulf Coast, one can slip into deep water unconsciously; at the age of fourteen, David runs away from home to pursue a girl and, on his journey, tries crack cocaine for the first time. He’s hooked instantly. Over the course of the next decade, he fights his way out of jail and rehab, trying to make sense of the world around him—a sunken world where faith in anything is a privilege. He makes his way to a tenuous sobriety, but it isn't until he takes a literature class at a community college that something within him ignites.
All Day is a Long Time is a spectacular, raw account of growing up and managing, against every expectation, to carve out a place for hope. We see what it means, and what it takes, to come back from a place of little control—to map ourselves on the world around, and beyond, us. David Sanchez’s debut resounds with real force and demonstrates the redemptive power of the written word.

The Ernest Hemingway Collection brings together three of Hemingway's classic novels—A Farewell to Arms, The Sun Also Rises, and The Torrents of Spring—in an illustrated edition that highlights the emotional depth, iconic style, and thematic resonance of his work. Each novel captures Hemingway's unique approach to storytelling, balancing simplicity and poignancy in narratives that explore themes of love, identity, and the search for purpose in an often chaotic world.
In A Farewell to Arms, Hemingway tells a story of love and sacrifice during World War I. The novel follows the relationship between Lieutenant Frederic Henry, an American in the Italian army, and Catherine Barkley, a British nurse. Their romance provides a fleeting refuge from the surrounding devastation, but the couple is ultimately challenged by the unrelenting realities of war, fate, and loss. With minimalistic prose and powerful imagery, Hemingway crafts a haunting portrayal of the human cost of conflict.
The Sun Also Rises, one of Hemingway's most famous works, delves into the lives of disillusioned expatriates in post-World War I Europe. The story centers on Jake Barnes and Lady Brett Ashley, whose unrequited love is complicated by a sense of existential detachment common among the "Lost Generation." Set in Paris and Spain, the novel explores the characters' pursuit of pleasure, purpose, and identity amid a world struggling to find meaning after the horrors of war. Hemingway's sharp, descriptive prose captures both the glamour and emptiness of their lives.
Finally, The Torrents of Spring, a satirical work, reveals Hemingway's humorous side while serving as a parody of the romanticism that often permeated American literature of the time. Through witty characterization and exaggerated situations, Hemingway critiques the literary norms of his era, particularly the style of Sherwood Anderson.
Illustrated with carefully selected imagery, this collection provides visual depth to Hemingway's layered storytelling, enriching readers' experience of each novel's setting and tone. This collection is ideal for those seeking to understand Hemingway's diverse styles and narrative power across romance, existential exploration, and literary satire.
