"Three Short Stories & Ten Poems" is a captivating collection that showcases the literary prowess of Ernest Hemingway, one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. This illustrated edition presents a selection of Hemingway's succinct and powerful prose alongside his evocative poetry, inviting readers to explore the themes of love, loss, and the human condition that permeate his work.
The three short stories included in this collection exemplify Hemingway's trademark minimalist style, characterized by his use of simple language and understated emotion. Each narrative delves into the complexities of human relationships, revealing the profound impact of seemingly mundane moments. Through his keen observations and vivid imagery, Hemingway captures the essence of life's struggles and triumphs, allowing readers to connect deeply with his characters.
Accompanying the stories are ten poems that reflect Hemingway's lyrical sensibility and his ability to convey profound emotions in a few carefully chosen words. The poems, rich with imagery and metaphor, explore themes of nature, war, and the passage of time, further enhancing the reader's experience of Hemingway's literary world.

When the worlds of science-fiction and science-fact collide… extraordinary things can happen.
Dave is the great-great grandson of H.G. Wells, author of the 1895 novella The Time Machine, a book that foretold (with suspicious accuracy) the future of the human species. What if the ideas in that book weren't entirely fiction? Right now, Dave and his friends Amy and Michael must set out on a journey through time… the journey of a lifetime!
The Time Machine: A Comedy is (very loosely) adapted from H.G. Wells by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, whose previous adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles was a hit in the West End and subsequently for numerous companies worldwide. It was first produced in 2023 on a tour of the UK, before a run at Park Theatre, London, produced by Original Theatre and directed by Orla O'Loughlin.
Fast-paced and wise-cracking, this riotous retelling zips from the nineteenth century to the end of the world, and (with any luck) back again. It will suit any theatre company looking for a time-bending adaptation of a well-loved story – and a surefire audience-pleaser.

The Roman poet Publius Ovidius Naso (Ovid) is best known for his epic poem Metamorphoses, a collection of myths and legends from Ancient Greece and Rome. His works continue to be widely read and admired, and he is regarded as one of the most significant poets of ancient Rome.
Ovid’s love poems are both brilliant and evocative. In Amores (‘Loves’), the romantic mysteriousness of elegiac love-poetry is exploded by his witty and ironic treatment of the form. Ars Amatoria (The Art of Love) and Remedia Amoris (The Cures for Love) both lay down the rules for the game of love, which both sexes can play.
A.D. Melville’s translations, which also include the lesser-known Cosmetics for Ladies, have been specially licensed for this recording. It is delivered with customary panache by David Timson.
