Beschreibung

Lynn Hall runs a small, successful employment agency. While he's able to find great candidates for his clients, he can't seem to get a good assistant for his own office. One day while Lynn's trying to answer the phone, type one-handed, and pour coffee for a guest, Duncan Stern walks in and becomes the answer to his prayers.
Duncan has recently been laid-off and is desperate for a job. Taking a chance on another agency, he walks into the offices of Lynn Hall & Associates and Lynn hires him on the spot.
Sexual tension simmers between them but they're hesitant to pursue it because Lynn's the boss. When one fateful evening thrusts them into each other's arms, they're forced to acknowledge the very real attraction they feel toward one another.
Steamy nights and hot office liaisons lead to something more, but one lecherous client threatens their love and livelihood. Will Lynn lose his company and the man of his dreams?

Named one of the best books of the year by the New Yorker

Survival is a moral quandary in this otherworldly debut charting forbidden love during an apocalypse.

In a near future devastated by war and natural disaster, a young man and his mother cling to survival at the edge of a forest. The young man spends his days taking care of the home and exchanging letters with his lover, Boris, who lives in a city on the other side of the woods. It's barely a life, but it's a life nonetheless, despite the menacing soldiers patrolling the land. But after the young man commits a brutal act of desperate violence to protect his mother, he leaves home to find Boris, who travels with him on a search for safety. When the journey's demands threaten his relationship with Boris as well as his own moral compass, the young man is forced to confront whether, in his effort to stay alive, he has become the very danger he fought to escape.

An award-winning novel from a blazingly original Catalonian writer, Pol Guasch's Napalm in the Heart is breathtaking in its intimacy, poetry, and devastation. Guasch's debut is an artful, affecting story of star-crossed love under siege and the moral murkiness of survival.

The guy who broke my heart is back and teaching at my school. I'm really trying not to give an F.

A long time ago, in a suburban high school not so far away, a closeted nerd (me) and a closeted soccer star (Hutch) fell in love and planned to make their public debut at prom. Until Hutch bailed at the last minute, leaving me with a broken heart and unworn tuxedo. Tale as old as time, right?

I spent the past ten years working to forget Hutch, returning to our old high school to teach and make new memories that could erase ones of him. I thought Hutch was ancient history, off living his professional athlete life. But he's suddenly back in Sourwood, coaching soccer at South Rock High, and sexy as ever. Just when I'd gotten over him, we're now colleagues.

As Hutch leads the soccer team to victory once again, and we find ourselves trading stolen glances in the halls, it feels like a reboot of our high school bad romance. Especially after a late night encounter where I find myself climbing him like the rope in gym class. Oops.

Hutch wants to give us another try, but what if history is doomed to repeat itself?

The straight rich jock would never date his family's gay hired help, right?Colton: Crushing on the town's star football player is a bad idea for a few reasons. One, Logan's straight. And has a girlfriend. That alone makes anything between us impossible. Two, living in the guesthouse with my family on his parents' estate, I'm really just the unnoticed lawn guy. Our social status difference is night and day. Those reasons are now irrelevant, because I'm determined to get over this pointless infatuation I've harbored for Logan Kelley for years. He's more of a jerk than I realized.Logan: There are three things people know about me. I'm a Saints tight end. My bank account stays fat with cash. I have a girlfriend, Jules. What they don't know is that I'm gay, and Jules is actually my childhood best friend who's been doing me a solid in a mutually beneficial arrangement.Colton Lockhart has been the one person I've wanted, but he doesn't know that. When I come home for a week during the summer, I'm ready to tell him and have it all planned out. Except I immediately blow my shot with him. It's safe to say that although years of playing on the field have made me a seasoned athlete, in relationships . . . Well, I have zero experience in dating. Or anything else for that matter.I hope he'll chalk it up to a rookie mistake and give me another chance.

Asher Garin is a dangerous man. A man without loyalty, a man without a nationality, without a country, without a home. He’s also a mercenary for hire to the highest bidder. His next job is a face he recognises, and after a tip-off, he learns he too is a marked man.
It’s a different game now, and Harry and Asher have a better chance at surviving if they stick together. But it’s not just the game or the rules that have changed. The stakes have too.
Because on their own, they had nothing to lose. Together, they do.

A collection of three novels from the experimental feminist writer: “Literal Madness is Acker at her most powerful, disturbing, and provocative.” —Catherine Texier, author of Victorine

Kathy Goes to Haiti, the first of three novels in Literal Madness, “speaks to us out of a delightful mock-naivete that reminds one at times of the Dick and Jane readers rewritten as manuals for politics and sex . . . At once hilarious and terrifying, [it] has all the logic of a Caribbean tour and a nightmare combined” (Los Angeles Times).

My Death My Life by Pier Paolo Pasolini—wherein, among other things, the late Italian filmmaker solves his own murder, with the help of, among others, Romeo, Juliet, and the Bronté sisters—is a “scathing commentary on false values in art” (The Hartford Courant).

In the haunting Florida, Acker achieves “a nearly telegraphic reduction of the Bogart-Bacall movie Key Largo to fatalistic, tough-guy essentials” (Booklist).

“There’s a haunting method to Acker’s ‘madness’: a rough, raw, erudite wail against the postmodern loss of meaning and emotion.” —Kirkus Reviews
