Beschreibung

As an intrepid reporter for one of London's most widely read tabloids, Jessica Bannister is certainly no stranger to danger and often ends up in dicey situations of the supernatural variety while attempting to bag her next scoop, but when her adversaries have the ability to turn a friend into a foe, she finds herself in a whole new level of peril, unable to trust those closest to her and occasionally even herself! A revelation about her past makes her re-evaluate her supernatural gifts and once again she is left wondering whether they are a boon or a bane, and what exactly the trail of death left in their wake means for her future. While she wrestles with all of these existential questions about the nature of her powers, she finds herself haunted by sinister monks, long-dead serial killers, and perhaps most perplexing of all, unusually vicious swans. What terrifies her the most, however, is the evil that lurks in the hearts of man, and how easy it is for it to bubble up to the surface.

Louisa MacDonald was born in 1845, one of eleven children of part Scottish descent. Together with three of her sisters they were known as the ‘MacDonald sisters’ primarily because of their marriages to well-known men.

In 1866 she married the wealthy industrialist Alfred Baldwin in a double wedding with her sister Anne.

After giving birth to Stanley on the 3rd August 1867, who would go on to become Prime Minister, she drifted into an unhappy life in her then residence in Worcestershire. She had at least one miscarriage and days alone depressed and in darkness.

During the 1870’s the couple travelled to find a lasting cure and tried a variety of treatments which led to her recovery in 1883. She now became a leading figure in her local village of Wilden, near Stourbridge.

Her writing career of novels, short stories and poetry is often overlooked, as was the case with so many women, yet her works reveal many talents and a gift for melding odd and weird circumstances into seemingly everyday life.

    Louisa Baldwin died in 1925.

If given the chance, would you try to fix the one moment that broke everything, even if it cost you your soul?
After a tragic car accident shatters his life, William J. McCoy is approached by a man named Ivan. He isn’t just a stranger. He’s a demon, and he claims William has lived this life before. Many times. And every time, his wife dies. Each time by Ivan’s design.
Now, Ivan offers him one chance to break the cycle.
Thrust into a past life with a mission to change fate, William is haunted by memories that are not his. The woman he is trying to save has his wife's face, but not her name. He’s surrounded by a life that feels borrowed, while something inside him tries to claim it as its own. And Ivan is always nearby, watching, waiting . . . pulling the strings.
As timelines blur and his identity begins to fracture, William must uncover the truth buried across lifetimes and face a terrifying possibility: the real enemy may not be the demon at all.
    Some stories don’t end.
    They echo.
And some love stories were never meant to be rewritten.

An author’s talents may seem obvious and indisputable as they move words and ideas into gathered phrases and stories.

But where do these ideas and stories come from? A lonely thought that suddenly gathers form? An inspiration from a Muse? A suggestion from an everyday event?

Perhaps in the case of their darker, more malevolent stories, other forces are at work. They help to nourish single words into sentences and paragraphs that ease themselves from the shadows and are suddenly upon us in twisted revelation that may thrill, may disturb, but will always engage and help us explore the edge of darkness where some of the very best literature patiently lurks …. waiting …. for the likes of me and you.
