Synopsis

Janet started writing 'Our Family's Journey Through Disability and Cancer' 3 months after her oldest daughter Kirsty completed her chemotherapy for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Kirsty was only 15 years old when she was diagnosed. Kirsty also has Down Syndrome. Kirsty has a younger sister, Melissa.
This book will take you through the many experiences this family has been through from the time Kirsty was born. The journey hasn't always been a smooth one , especially during the years Kirsty was being treated for leukaemia.
The family hope their story will help others who have a child with a disability and are going through cancer. It is a book that may also benefit health professionals (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, support workers) involved in caring for families who have a disabled child or a child going through treatment for cancer.
Janet has chosen the Down Syndrome Association and Clic Sargent as the two charities who will benefit from sales of this book. For each book sold, each charity will get a donation.
The Down Syndrome Association UK has helped many families who have a child with Down Syndrome. The family were also supported by Clic Sargent, a National Charity supporting Children and Young People who have cancer.
