"The Raven" is a narrative poem by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. First published in January 1845, the poem is often noted for its musicality, stylized language, and supernatural atmosphere. It tells of a distraught lover who is paid a mysterious visit by a talking raven. The lover, often identified as a student is lamenting the loss of his love, Lenore. Sitting on a bust of Pallas, the raven seems to further antagonize the protagonist with its constant repetition of the word "Nevermore". The poem makes use of folk, mythological, religious, and classical references.

After the plot is foiled, the fugitive horsehand is on the run and leaving bodies in his wake. Hewey, the worst pistol shot in the West, is deputized to bring the criminal to justice, bestowing him with a weight of responsibility he's long avoided and leaving him to wonder if even the help of a retired Texas Ranger is enough to put an end to this trail of dastardly deeds. Steve Kelton's The Unlikely Lawman will transport you to an Old West full of duplicity, gunfights, and, of course, plenty of cowboys and robbers.

Martha Pfeiffer, age 19, was one of 844 persons who perished when a ship chartered for the Western Electric annual picnic capsized in Chicago in 1915. Martha's surviving family members never recovered from their grief. The Eastland Disaster has been mostly overlooked in recent years.
In 1997, Pearl Pospisil, a retired Chicago writer, and third-generation Pfeiffer, composed a family history and delivered it to her niece, Zara Vrabel, in St. Paul, who was completely unfamiliar with its contents. Pearl had one request: "Do something with this."
Zara, also a journalist, was cut off from her family and had no interest in genealogy. However, learning of her great-aunt's death on the Eastland Disaster made Zara's heart sink.
Zara's life unravels as she becomes entangled in the plot and realizes that she and her great-aunt shared more than blood. After discovering that the accident was preventable, Zara initially seeks redress. And the release of another Titanic movie poured salt on a fresh wound. So why was the Eastland consigned to oblivion while the Titanic got all the glory?
Flower in the River interweaves the past and present of four generations of an Eastern-European immigrant family. It suggests that even an unknown trauma can affect a family for generations.

Following the events of Cristina of Aspen Aisle, Will and Evangeline find themselves enraptured by persistent beauty they never dreamed of, and facing challenges beyond their strength. Evangeline of Sky Valley is a story of exuberant joys, laughter, loss, doubt, and the hidden glory of life in the midst of ashes.
"Kahlil Gibran wrote, 'What is it to work with love? It is to weave cloth with threads drawn from your heart, even as if your beloved were to wear that cloth.' This is the quality that I find in this writing. Case weaves together words in a cloth fit to be worn by our King. Imagine the biblical Song of Songs written as a contemporary novel. If that notion appeals to you, you'll love this book. Ebullient, scintillating, tintinnabulous—what words could possibly describe the crackling freshness of language and the chaste, holy feelings unleashed in this book? Hardly ever in a work of fiction—or even nonfiction—will you read a truer, purer, more uplifting account of love and marriage as God intended it than in Evangeline of Sky Valley." —Mike Mason, bestselling author of The Mystery of Marriage and Champagne for the Soul

It all came to me one election day. It was on a warm California afternoon, and I had ridden down into the Valley of the Moon from the ranch to the little village to vote yes and no to a host of proposed amendments to the Constitution of the State of California.
