Synopsis

In "The Greatest Works of Jane Addams," readers are invited into the profound insights of one of the foremost social reformers of the early 20th century. This comprehensive compilation showcases Addams's pivotal contributions to social ethics, peace activism, and the foundation of settlement houses, reflecting her commitment to addressing the pressing inequalities of her time. Written in a clear and accessible style, these selections elucidate Addams's innovative blending of personal narrative and sociopolitical analysis, grounded in her experiences as a community organizer in Chicago'Äôs Hull House. The literary context of the Progressive Era is palpable throughout her works, as she engages with contemporary issues in feminism, pacifism, and democracy while championing the voices of the marginalized. Jane Addams, a trailblazer and the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1931, drew upon her extensive background in sociology and philosophy to articulate her vision for a more equitable society. Her dedication to social reform was shaped by her encounters with poverty and injustice, which profoundly influenced her understanding of civic responsibility and human interconnectedness. As an intellectual leader, she was deeply engaged in issues such as labor rights and immigration, rendering her writings as both prescient and urgently relevant. This collection is essential reading for anyone interested in social justice, American history, or feminist theory. Addams'Äôs works resonate today, illuminating the pathways toward activism and ethical leadership. By exploring her greatest contributions, readers will not only gain insight into the historical context of her time but also be inspired to reflect on the enduring challenges facing society.

As a result of vaccines and various other “modern” medical topics, autism has become more common than ever. Autism has become more broadly known or understood, at least to some degree. In the last 10 years, research has discovered high-function autism, which was never before believed to be autism. In the Dealing with Autism series, you will learn about the “root” problem autistics deal with, how to spot it, and how to teach your loved one how to overcome it. As a high-function autistic with nearly 20 years in education, I was able to create a lesson plan, which I originally designed for myself. Due to the exceptional outcome of following my own program, people no longer believe I am autistic. Dealing with Autism series is written in everyday language, so anyone can understand and follow. By the entire support group following this program, the loved one will reach new heights. Follow the entire series to see the most improvement in your loved one. This has two parts. One is for the family and support group, while the other is for the person with autism which is communicated in the "black and white" picture that autistics understand.

In many ways, we've been telling the same stories, over and over, for the last 2300 years. This book will show you why, and how you can do it too.
For centuries, dramatic writers have relied on Aristotelian principles to write their stories for the screen and stage—the same stories you stream and watch today. But for the first time ever, the timeless principles from Aristotle’s esteemed Poetics have been adapted for novelists.
With succinct clarity, novelist Douglas Vigliotti shows you exactly how to write a novel using tried-and-true principles that have been used since antiquity to tell great stories. These principles are the foundation on which any story can be written. Whether you are writing your first or tenth novel, Aristotle for Novelists has something to offer any serious writer of fiction. It is both a challenge to writers to simplify their craft and a no-frills, impassioned outcry for novelists everywhere.

    Monday, 4 September 1967
Marine Lance Corporal Jack Swan crested the face of a bare, rocky knoll in
the Que Son Valley of South Vietnam. Following Swan were the 164 Marines of
Mike Company, Third Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division. Their
mission was to locate and rescue two understrength and isolated companies
of felow Marines who were under attack by the North Vietnamese Armv
The sight of a quiet and serene rice paddy and shrub covered valley greeted
Swan. Too serene, he thought, as he caught sight of a trembling bush. "I think
I just saw that bush move!" he shouted. "If it moves again, shoot it!" his squad
leader commanded he bush moved Swan hired. and the hush went down
Then hell on earth broke loose.
Rocket-propelled grenades, AK-47 fire, mortars, and machine guns engulfed
the exposed Marines. The vaunted 2nd NVA Division, six thousand, five hundred
men strong and expertly camouflaged, had sprung their well-laid trap.
Instead of coming to the rescue of their embattled comrades, it was now the
men of Mike 3/5 who were about to be annihilated. Burdened with a rifle, the
M16, that would often malfunction, how could they hope to beat back a vastly
superior foe bent on their destruction?
Outnumbered, out-gunned, and exposed, would any of the men of Mike 3/5 survive?
