Beschreibung

In "The Harvest of the Sea," James Glass Bertram intricately weaves a narrative that delves into the rich interplay between humanity and the ocean's bounty. Set against the backdrop of the rapidly changing socio-economic landscapes of the early 20th century, the book employs a lyrical prose style filled with vivid imagery and metaphorical depth. Bertram's exploration of themes such as sustainability, community, and the moral implications of exploitation situates the work within the tradition of ecological literature, inviting readers to reflect on the relationship between nature and human enterprise. James Glass Bertram, an ecologist and writer deeply entrenched in marine conservation, draws on his extensive experiences and research along coastlines worldwide. His commitment to environmental advocacy and sustainable practices informs the narrative, illustrating the struggles of fishing communities as they confront both natural and socio-economic challenges. This personal and scholarly background lends authenticity to Bertram's portrayal of seafaring life, offering readers an insider's perspective on the complexities of coastal living and sustainability. The reader is encouraged to engage with "The Harvest of the Sea" not merely as a story, but as a profound commentary on contemporary issues surrounding marine environments. Its blend of narrative depth and critical insight makes it an essential read for anyone passionate about ecology, literature, and the intricate relationship between humanity and the natural world.

The use of cannabis is a practice that every day becomes more frequent around the world, mainly due to the multiple properties that the derivatives of this plant have, both in therapeutic and recreational terms. The depenalization of cannabis in more and more countries around the world has been a strong promoter of its proper use, as well as a booster for scientific research that has led to the description of the benefits it has for the control of various medical conditions such as glaucoma, anxiety, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, PTSD, among others. However, many legal statutes considerably limit or regulate the cultivation of cannabis, being this practice still not allowed in many countries, while in others the number of plants that can be grown at a time is considerably limited.
Being a plant that is usually used looking for a specific effect, generated by the set of its molecules or some of its components found in the flowers or buds, the efficient cultivation of cannabis is usually a slightly more complex task compared to other plants, as it is based on a series of procedures, which methodically hope to control all the elements involved in some way, in the growth and flowering of the same to obtain the best quality of the products derived from such crops. An example of this is the possible substitution of the time of exposure to sunlight by ultraviolet light lamps, regulated manually or through timers. Something similar happens with other factors, such as temperature, humidity, the amount of water and the richness of the soil. The modern cannabis grower must take into account all these guidelines if he expects to harvest good quality flowers, rich in cannabinoids and terpenes, balancing these substances according to therapeutic needs or tastes associated with recreational use.
Today, many cannabis markets offer for sale various strains of this plant, all with different properties: some rich in THC, others in CBD, some with fruity flavors and others rather earthy. The variety is immense, so another fundamental aspect is to know which strains suit the expectations, desires and possibilities of each grower.
And if it is a question of obtaining what is expected, determining the precise moment for harvesting is a fundamental step, since the good grower must know how to recognize the signs that the plant shows when it is in the optimal period in terms of concentration of cannabinoids and other coveted substances.
In this text, Pharmacology University explores the most elementary points among the details surrounding the cultivation of cannabis, from the germination of the seeds to the curing of its dried flowers to obtain a final product of the highest possible quality. This knowledge is highly valuable in the context of the growing and increasingly lucrative medical cannabis market, which is valued at nearly twenty billion dollars worldwide.

Plasma physics is the study of ionized gases, where a significant fraction of the particles are charged, creating a medium that exhibits collective behavior influenced by electromagnetic fields. Plasma is often referred to as the fourth state of matter, alongside solids, liquids, and gases. In a plasma, the thermal energy is sufficient to ionize atoms, resulting in a mixture of positively charged ions and free electrons. This ionization leads to unique properties such as electrical conductivity, response to magnetic fields, and the ability to generate complex, collective phenomena like waves and instabilities. Plasma physics combines elements of fluid dynamics, electromagnetism, and statistical mechanics to describe the behavior of charged particles and fields.
Plasmas are characterized by several key parameters, including the electron and ion densities, temperature, and degree of ionization. The Debye length, which measures the distance over which electrostatic interactions are screened out by the collective response of charges, is a fundamental scale in plasma physics.

In this audio listening experience, Sara Dylan will be leading you gently into a quiet meditation while listening to gentle rainfall. You are sheltering from the rain and looking about as the rain falls.
You can choose what you see in your mind’s eye; you can look out at the rain as it falls or past the rain into the landscape; you can turn your head and look around and along the street or road.
"Rain is predictable, calming, stable, and non-threatening," says Dr Shelby Harris, a behavioural sleep-medicine specialist. According to Harris, steady rainfall noises help lull the brain into falling asleep, block outside noises, and frequently induce a more meditative state that brings on relaxation.
Gentle meditative music has been added to enhance your experience.

This deep sleep meditation has been designed as a sitting meditation to be used at any time of the day, but it works just as well when you are lying down.

For the Maya, astronomy was not a purely scientific pursuit but intimately linked to religious, mythological, and ideological elements that were of the highest importance. The celestial realm held a sacred nature, as did the many gods and goddesses that dwelt there, so for all Mesoamerican cultures, astronomy was a fundamental part of their everyday lives. Thus, astronomy was present in their calendars, religion, and even agriculture, and in close relation to astronomy, the concept of time was also an essential part of their worldview.
The Aztec recorded many of the astronomical events they observed in codices and hieroglyphic inscriptions, but the main evidence of their deep astronomical knowledge comes from their calendar system. This information was then used to plan the orientation of buildings and ceremonial centers, which were aligned to sunrises or sunsets corresponding to special dates, such as solstices or equinoxes. Observational calendars were also used to schedule agricultural activities, as well as rituals, festivals, and celebrations.
Though the Spanish physically conquered them in quick fashion, the culture and legacy of the Inca Empire has continued to endure throughout the centuries in both Europe and South America, due in no small part to the fact they were one of the most advanced and sophisticated cultures on the continent. The sun was the main element present in the Inca worldview, so Inti, the sun god, was worshipped above all others and, even though the different parts of the empire were allowed to practice their individual beliefs, they were encouraged to venerate the sun. The connection with the sun even extended to their kings since they were considered to be the sons of the sun. Naturally, this meant astronomy was a key component of the Incas’ beliefs, and in addition to the sun, the Inca observed the moon, stars, constellations, and some planets, all of which became integral parts of their cosmology.

As biologist Jeremy Griffith explains in THE Interview (which psychiatrist Professor Harry Prosen described as “the most important interview of all time”), while we humans lacked the explanation for our 2-million-year corrupted human condition we had no choice but to deny that our distant ape ancestors lived in a state of cooperative and loving innocence. But with the good reason for our corrupted condition now finally found, our species’ original state of innocence can at last be admitted — and what that honesty finally allows us to see is the immense guilt and shame we humans have been carrying for corrupting our original instinctive self or soul. While it's all-relieving to have this ‘Great Burden of Guilt’ finally lifted, having it suddenly revealed is so exposing that the mind of many will initially refuse to take in or ‘hear’ what's being talked about. It will suffer from a ‘Deaf Effect’, which is what this booklet and its video presentation is all about overcoming.
