  Joan de Beauvoir de Havilland (October 22, 1917 - December 15, 2013), known professionally as Joan Fontaine, was an English-American actress who appeared in more than 45 films in a career that spanned five decades. She and her older sister, actress Olivia de Havilland, had a well-documented rivalry. Fontaine won an Academy Award in 1941 for her role in the film, Suspicion. She and de Havilland remain the only siblings to win lead-acting Academy Awards. The following recording is from a 1977 television interview.

  The Chemical Marriage

  The self-admitted author of The Chemical Marriage, Johann Valentin Andreæ, born in Württemberg in 1586, was twenty-eight years of age when that work was first published. It was presumably written about twelve years prior to its publication--or when the author was fifteen or sixteen years old. The fact is almost incredible that one so young could produce a volume containing the wealth of symbolic thought and philosophy hidden between the lines of The Chemical Marriage. This book makes the earliest known reference to Christian Rosencreutz, and is generally regarded as the third of the series of original Rosicrucian manifestoes. As a symbolic work, the book itself is hopelessly irreconcilable with the statements made by Andreæ concerning it. The story of The Chemical Marriage relates in detail a series of incidents occurring to an aged man, presumably the Father C.R.C. of the Fama and Confessio. If Father C.R.C. was born in 1378, as stated in the Confessio, and is identical with the Christian Rosencreutz of The Chemical Marriage, he was elevated to the dignity of a Knight of the Golden Stone in the eighty-first year of his life (1459). In the light of his own statements, it is inconceivable that Andreæ could have been Father Rosy Cross.

  John Ruskin was a Victorian-era writer, art critic, and social thinker who wrote extensively on political economy. He was critical of the industrialization and capitalism that were taking hold in Britain during his time, and he believed that these developments were causing great harm to both the natural environment and human society. 
  Ruskin believed that the capitalist system was inherently flawed because it focused solely on maximizing profits and disregarded the well-being of workers, the environment, and society as a whole. He argued that the pursuit of wealth at all costs led to the exploitation of labor, the destruction of natural resources, and the degradation of art and culture. 
  In response to these problems, Ruskin advocated for a different economic system that was more in tune with the needs of people and the environment. He believed that the economy should be organized around the principles of social justice, sustainability, and community. 
  Ruskin's ideas were influential in the development of the Arts and Crafts movement, which sought to promote traditional crafts and design in opposition to the mass-produced goods of industrial capitalism. His critique of the capitalist system also influenced later socialist and environmental movements.

  This is the story of two teenage British boys in a Britain occupied by the Germans, which is what might have happened if the Nazis had successfully carried out their plans to invade Britain under Operation Sea Lion in the 1940s. Alan Mitchell and Sam Roberts study at St. John's Academy in the fictional Cambridgeshire market town of Hereward. Their Home Guard unit is defeated and the Schutzstaffel (S.S.) massacres the prisoners but the boys escape and return to German occupied Hereward.
