Beschreibung

One cannot have moved much in the world without hearing complaints, both from parents and young persons, about the amount of time and brain spent in the learning of languages, and the little profit derived from this outlay. These complaints, no doubt, arise partly from the want of judgment on the part of the parents, and the want of capacity and inclination on the part of their young hopefuls: parents often acting thoughtlessly on the vulgar notion that far birds have fair feathers, and preferring what is foreign to what is native, and what lies at a great distance in time or space to what is near; and young persons being forced to submit themselves to a grammatical indoctrination in which they feel no interest, and from which they derive no benefit. But it is no less true that these complaints are due in no small measure to false methods of linguistic training generally, or to some cherished prejudices in favour of certain languages on the part of the teachers; and it becomes therefore, at the present day, a matter of great practical importance to inquire how far our traditional methods of teaching languages are in conformity with the method of Nature in her great art of thought-utterance, and how far they may justly be called on to submit themselves to a revision and a reconstitution.

The concept of the intact mind, first described in a 2006 memoir, refers to the idea that inside every autistic child is an intelligent, typical child waiting to be liberated by the right diet, the right treatment intervention, the right combination of supports and accommodations. The sentiment itself is not new. Though the idea gives hope to parents devastated by a child's diagnosis, Amy Lutz argues that it has also contributed to widespread dismantling of services badly needed by severely disabled children and their families.

In Chasing the Intact Mind, Lutz traces the history of the intact mind concept, explaining how it influences current policy and practice affecting those with autism. Lutz provides a historical analysis of the intact mind narrative and describes how the concept—originally unique to autism—has come to inform current debates at the heart of intellectual and developmental disability practice and policy in the United States. Lutz argues that focusing on the intact mind and marginalizing those with severe disability reproduces historic patterns of discrimination that yoked human worth to intelligence, and that it is only by making space for the impaired mind that we will be able to resolve these ongoing clashes—as well as even larger questions of personhood, dependency, and care.

This book consists of two titles, which are about the following topics:
1 - The term "mind control" is often used in various contexts, but it broadly refers to different methods of influencing or taking control of the mind. The critical question is: whose mind is being controlled?
There are several methods of mind control, each stemming from different disciplines. Techniques for controlling others' minds are distinct from those used to influence one's own mind, which is why various types of mind control exist.
For those looking to change and influence the thoughts of others, learning hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is essential. While NLP primarily focuses on personal development, it provides insight into the personality traits of those you wish to influence.
For example, a common NLP technique involves covert or conversational hypnosis, where an individual subtly implants thoughts while engaging in seemingly normal conversation. Over time, the recipient may believe these ideas originated from their own thoughts, even though they were subtly guided by the influencer.
2 - Remorse, regret, and saying "I'm sorry" are crucial for effective and balanced social interactions. These concepts, when practiced, increase the chances of successful relationships. Ignoring or rejecting these elements can lead to criminal or deviant behavior, with victimization often being a central aspect. The phrase "I'm sorry" is one of the most powerful and complex expressions in communication.
Throughout history, the phrase "I'm sorry" has been a fundamental part of societal and cultural exchanges across various languages. Its significance lies in acknowledging human fallibility, as our actions or words can cause temporary anger or lasting psychological harm. Understanding the origins and meanings of "I'm sorry" can deepen one's appreciation of this important expression.
