Sir James Matthew Barrie, 1st Baronet, OM, was born in Kirriemuir, Angus on 9th May, 1860.
Barrie knew from an early age that he wished to be an author. His family wished otherwise. The compromise was that he would attend university to study literature at the University of Edinburgh. He graduated with an M.A. in April, 1882.
His first job was as a staff journalist for the Nottingham Journal. The London editor of the St. James's Gazette "liked that Scotch thing" in Barrie’s work and he wrote several stories for them and later several novels based on his mother’s early life.
Barrie though was increasingly drawn to working in the theatre. His first plays achieved little attention but in 1901 and 1902, Barrie had back-to-back theatre successes with Quality Street and The Admirable Crichton.
The character of ‘Peter Pan’ first appeared in The Little White Bird in 1902. This most famous and enduring of his works; Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up had its first stage performance on December 27th, 1904.
Peter Pan would overshadow all his other works. But his short stories cannot be overlooked. Indeed, from today’s vantage point they are excellent gems of social manners, of class and the way characters, sometimes in the most mundane of circumstances, react in the most surprising of ways.

The Story of one "FORGOTTEN" Veteran's Widow who fought the VA for over two decades while working full-time, raising three children and completing the VA's insurmountable and required Claims/Appeals paperwork to correct what the VA later described as their "Egregious Error." i.e., The VA paid the Widow's DIC Spousal Benefits to the wrong person for twenty-seven years! With her strong Faith, determination and perseverance, she "WON" her VA Legacy Appeal in 2024! She feels her VA battle was a "Purpose" from GOD she never asked for, but accepted, to encourage others to "Never Give Up."
Every Veteran and their family have a story Congress and America need to hear. As a Veteran's Widow and Military Mom, my heart has typed the words to our story. My Husband of sixteen years, the father of our three children, died from exposure to Agent Orange in 1996. Following his funeral, I applied for my DIC Spousal Benefits - only to be informed by the VA they were paying my Spousal Benefits to a person who had filed fraudulent documents.
I fought the VA's insurmountable paperwork for 28 years and "WON" in 2024!
I pray our story will encourage all Americans to live each day remembering...through relentless faith, love and perseverance, your family, just like ours today, will know, "The Impossible Dream" is, indeed, "Possible."

Constantine I, often called Constantine the Great, was one of the most significant emperors of ancient Rome, reigning from 306 to 337 AD. Born in Naissus, in the province of Dacia Mediterranea (modern-day Niš, Serbia), he was the son of Flavius Constantius, a Roman army officer and a prominent figure in the Tetrarchy, and Helena, a woman of humble Greek origins. His father's position as one of the four emperors in the Tetrarchy was instrumental in shaping Constantine's early life and military career. Under emperors Diocletian and Galerius, Constantine demonstrated his military prowess, initially fighting against barbarian tribes and the Persians in the eastern provinces. In 305 AD, he was summoned to the West to aid his father in campaigns in Britain, where he earned further distinction.
Following the death of his father in 306 AD, Constantine’s soldiers declared him emperor at Eboracum (modern York, England). Over the next two decades, he would overcome rival emperors, such as Maxentius and Licinius, in a series of civil wars, eventually becoming the sole ruler of the Roman Empire by 324 AD. His reign marked a period of significant transformation, both militarily and administratively.
To strengthen the empire, Constantine initiated a series of reforms. He reorganized the imperial administration, separating civil and military powers to create a more efficient system of governance. Acknowledging the need for economic stability, he introduced the solidus, a new gold coin that helped curb inflation. This currency would become the standard for Byzantine and European economies for nearly a millennium. He also restructured the Roman army, creating specialized units that could respond swiftly to internal threats and barbarian invasions.
