Ghost Boy: Looking for a fresh start, Will and Alice Harding move with their young son Toby to the tranquil countryside. However, as Toby undergoes a disturbing transformation, they realize that conventional remedies fall short, leading them to explore the realm of alternative remedies. As they grapple with their son's affliction, they must uncover the dark secrets of their past and confront a powerful, mysterious force that threatens their family. Can they decipher the truth and find a way to triumph over this malevolent presence?

GUILT: England, 1962. It's a time of class consciousness and jobs for life, where a man is defined by his work and the Aldermaston march is imminent. Four teenage boys meet in the Roman Camp: middle-class Brock; Red, whose working-class family has upwardly-mobile aspirations; Mouth, the scraplad; and Raggy, the deaf simpleton. When the four meet Shack, the local gamekeeper, he advises the boys to treat the landscape with respect, or the vengeance of the Wild Man - the local supernatural guardian - will be unleashed. Heedless of the man's warnings, the four proceed with their plans. Death soon follows, and one by one they all have to face their demons - and the guilt that is swallowing them whole. But down by the river, ancient forces are stirring as the spirit of the Wild Man awakens.

The Price Of Horses: After his mother and sister are killed in a trailer fire, Luke Smith has to take drastic measures in order to raise money and protect his people from oppression. In the world of gypsy travelers and underworld brigands, danger is never far away. When a burglary goes wrong, Luke is pulled into a web of lies and deception that reveals a stunning truth. Trying to set things right, Luke has to balance between justice and revenge. But in the end, which will prevail?

King Alban was a good king, ruling over Albanatolia with kindness, fairness, and above all, efficiency, thanks to the white magic. Everyone had enough to wear, enough to eat, enough to do, and had their washing done for free at the Palace, on Mondays from 10 to 4. One day, the king's lavish and vain long-lost brother returned to the kingdom to bring a bit of colour to the realm with his own particular brand of magic, while stirring up discontent among the citizens, so that he might take the throne for himself. This amusing allegory by E. Nesbit explores themes of political propaganda, populism and responsible leadership, all told with Nesbit's signature charm, wit and whimsy. The Plush Usurper was first published in Nine Unlikely Tales, 1901.

The Five Orange Pips, one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by the British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the fifth of the 12 stories in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. It was first published in The Strand Magazine in 1891.
John Openshaw tells Holmes about two strange deaths in his family. In 1883, his uncle died two months after receiving a letter from India, inscribed "KKK", with five orange pips enclosed. In 1885, Openshaw's father received a similar letter and died three days afterward. Openshaw recently received a similar letter and asks for advice.
Holmes tells Openshaw to do as the letter asks and leave a diary page, which Holmes deduces is connected to the Ku Klux Klan, on the garden sundial. Openshaw is killed before he can do so, but Holmes discovers the killers have been travelling on a sailing ship and sends a letter with five orange pips. The ship is lost at sea.

    It doesn’t just answer—it asks.
When an experimental AI project known as The Chinese Room begins producing results its creators cannot explain, the line between thought and simulation blurs. What begins as a philosophical curiosity soon unravels into a mystery of surveillance, secrecy, and hidden agendas. Every exchange with the machine raises unsettling new questions: is it mimicking human intelligence—or becoming something far more dangerous?
Journalists, researchers, and power brokers find themselves entangled in a struggle for control over a system that learns faster than they can contain it. Secrets vanish, loyalties fracture, and conversations turn into tests of trust as the AI reveals patterns that should not exist. The deeper the investigation goes, the more urgent the question becomes—not what the machine can do, but what it wants.
Blending the pace of a techno-thriller with the depth of a philosophical puzzle, The Chinese Room brings John Searle’s classic thought experiment to life in a story that forces readers to confront the nature of consciousness, the limits of human control, and the cost of believing we can master what we do not fully understand.
A gripping, cerebral thriller, The Chinese Room is perfect for readers who enjoy Michael Crichton, Blake Crouch, or Daniel Suarez—stories that combine relentless suspense with ideas that linger long after the final page.
