With her thread business tangled in suspicion and the sewing community in chaos, Spoolia must reel in the truth one strand at a time. Assisted by her thread enthusiasts club and the handsome textile chemist analyzing fiber compositions, Spoolia uncovers a scheme involving thread counterfeiting, stolen color formulas, and a plot to manipulate the thread market. From suspicious tensile strength variations that reveal inferior materials to dye lots that don't match factory records, every unwound spool tells a story. But when Spoolia discovers the victim was systematically sabotaging small thread companies by stealing their signature colors, she realizes the killer is protecting a textile tradition more valuable than any corporate profit. With the annual thread festival approaching and the real saboteur still spinning lies, Spoolia must wind through the deception before her own business gets permanently unraveled.
