Synopsis

🌽 The annual Harvest Festival at Old Mill Farm is a beloved tradition, complete with pumpkin patches, apple cider, and a famously intricate corn maze. But the festivities take a terrifying turn when the farm's owner, a man with a knack for making enemies, is found dead in the center of the maze, propped up like a scarecrow. The police suspect a tragic accident, but city-transplant-turned-farmhand Lark Lennox notices the scene is staged. The real scarecrow is missing, and a single, ominous black feather is clutched in the victim's hand. When Lark's own past connection to the victim makes her a suspect, she must navigate the twisting paths of the maze—and the even more twisted relationships in the town—to clear her name. With help from her perceptive barn cat, Husk, and the farm owner's enigmatic grandson, Lark uncovers a field of secrets. From disputed land rights and hidden family legacies to a local legend about a phantom scarecrow that supposedly haunts the cornfields, the roots of this crime run deep. As the festival reaches its climax, Lark must separate folklore from fact before the killer decides to make her the next harvest horror.
