Synopsis

🧁 School librarian and reluctant PTA secretary Maggie May never expected her bake sale planning to include murder investigation. But when the PTA president—notorious for her "perfect" cupcakes and imperfect personality—drops dead after eating one of her own treats, Maggie finds herself in a sticky situation. The police suspect accidental food poisoning, but Maggie notices the victim's recipe book has suspicious alterations and the classroom fund is mysteriously short. With the school's reputation and funding on the line, Maggie must combine her research skills with her knowledge of school politics to uncover the truth. Assisted by the school's handsome new science teacher and a group of surprisingly observant parent volunteers, Maggie discovers a web of embezzlement, blackmail, and long-buried school secrets. From altered grade books to mysterious messages in library book returns, every clue points to someone within the school community. But when Maggie gets too close to the truth, the killer sends a chilling message by leaving a poisoned apple on her desk. Now this librarian must check out the facts before the school year ends with another funeral.
