Synopsis

🛶 Caterer and antique collector Maisie Gravy is hosting a vintage dinnerware exhibition when the event's snobbish curator—a notorious perfectionist with a taste for rare porcelain—is found dead in the banquet hall, floating face-down in an overflowing antique gravy boat. The police suspect a slip-and-fall accident, but Maisie notices the gravy boat's spout has been deliberately widened and the victim's appraisal notes contain coded marks about ceramic forgeries. With her catering business sinking fast and the antiques community in hot water, Maisie must stir through the murky details. Assisted by her kitchen staff and the handsome ceramics expert analyzing the altered porcelain, Maisie uncovers a scheme involving antique forgery, insurance fraud, and a sophisticated operation altering museum-quality pieces. From suspicious glaze inconsistencies that reveal modern repairs to clay compositions that don't match the stated era, every ceramic clue tells a story. But when Maisie discovers the victim was systematically "authenticating" forged antiques for a lucrative insurance scam, she realizes the killer is protecting collector integrity more valuable than any porcelain piece. With the exhibition gala approaching and the real forger still pouring on the charm, Maisie must ladle out the truth before her own reputation gets permanently waterlogged.
