Synopsis

🧵 Fabric shop owner and textile expert Cotton Wright is preparing for the annual Quilter's Convention when the event's main fabric supplier—a ruthless textile magnate—is found dead in her store, buried under a collapsed display of fabric bolts. The police suspect a tragic accident, but Cotton notices the bolts were deliberately cut to weaken them and the victim's order forms contain coded messages about fabric quality. With her shop temporarily closed and the quilting community in chaos, Cotton must measure up as an investigator. Assisted by her quilting bee and the handsome textile chemist analyzing fabric samples, Cotton uncovers a scheme involving counterfeit luxury fabrics, fraudulent fiber content, and a black market for stolen textile designs. From suspicious selvage markings that reveal unauthorized reproduction to dye lots that don't match factory records, every yard tells a story. But when Cotton discovers the victim was systematically diluting luxury fabrics with synthetic fibers while charging premium prices, she realizes the killer is protecting customers from a textile scam more tangled than a knotted thread. With the convention just days away and the real culprit still cutting corners, Cotton must unravel this fabric fiasco before her own bolt gets permanently measured out.
