This sends Vee, Shane, and Durran(Vee's Watcher friend) down a rabbit hole of wondering what or who could possibly going after Vee and why. They leave the city, heading to a property in a smaller town, still within pack territory which is easier to defend as they try to anticipate what will happen. All the while, Vee and Shane finally seem to be able to admit their feelings for one another, and although Shane finds it unlikely that he would be able to bond with her, since it is something that normally only happens between werewolves, he feels he needs to explain to her what might happen if they do.
